Hi,
I have read so many things on what you should and shouldn't drink. ( I'v sort of gotten a bit obsesive about finding it all out:p )

The main idea is:

No:
Cafeen (sp?) so not tea, greentea, coffee.
Herbs that you wouldn't normaly eat. So cut out camomile, rosehip ect.
Also there is conflicting advice on decaf'. Some say it's fine, others that the prosess to decafinate is poisonouse in itself, so you can't win realy.

Yes:
Fruit teas (just check the ingredients list)
Ginger
Mint

Sorry I have never heard of Rubious (sp?)

My midwife was also a registered medical herbalist with first class honours from naturopathy school.

As far as I had heard prior to talking to my midwife, St Johns Wort and Passionflower were the ones to avoid. But my midwife said "Oh no, the humble teabag poses no threat". Your standard packet herbal tea is very low dose and would have little if any effect.

By the way, on the advice of my midwife, I had theraputic doses (using the raw material) of chamomile (1 tsp per cup); and of nettles, oatstraw, and raspberry leaf (one handful boiled in one litre of water, drink one cup daily).

If you don't feel comfortable, seek advice from a herbalist. Or just drinkfruit tea.

Rubois is high in antioxidants and calcium, tho you'd probably have to drink 50 litres of it to beat a slice of cheese. Low caffeine, lower than regular tea I think. I drank it whilst pregnant.

 for rooibos. and for other herbal teas. a cuppa is generally not a theraputic dose, and shouldn't be a problem
