:)
hi, cant say ive been to merriden yet, but im in kalgoorlie, and the maternity ward is great here. I think u guys are about 3 hours away????
plus it has everything you need if birth doesnt go to plan.
pm me if you want any info, i am 29wks, and just moved here so learning it all aswell.
i would just go into ur maternity there and find out what they offer and what they dont.
goodluck. ;)
Hi there,
I wouldn't birth at Merredin, have heard some not very nice stories. Northam hospital is meant to be wonderful, my friend out here has had 3 out of 5 kids there and she said she'd go back there in an instant(she had to have 2 in Perth because they were twins). Northam is only 2 hours from you.
I'm going to Perth to have a homebirth(at my inlaws house lol).
Also off topic, I'm in Merredin at least once a week, we should meet up for coffee or something some time?

:DHi, I live in Bruce Rock. Haven't heard anything regarding Merredin hospital for births but I am 28 weeks preg with my 1st :p. I have booked into Northam hospital for my birth. Me and my hubby went and had a look in the birthing suites... talk about AWESOME!!!! Massive rooms, by yourself, with private individual courtyards. Basically new still. I was told that there are 3 birthing suites, and you can stay in the rooms until you leave. If by some miracle that there are more than 3 people requiring the birthing suites at the 1 time, and you have already delivered, you are moved directly across the hall into a room occupied by YOURSELF with your own toilet/ shower facilities aswell. Hubby is allowed to stay as long as he likes aswell. Just ring the hospital and discuss with a midwife. They are fantastic!!!! WIll do anything to help out:D:D:):)

I live in Merredin and was pregnant in 2008 and they said no deliveries in Merredin unless you turn up in labour. They recommended Northam for uncomplicated pregnancies and Swan or King Eddies if Northam wont take you.

I'm delivering in Albany regional. but that's a bit far from you :)
I've spent a week there (at 33weeks) and loved it.
all you girls who delivered out of town, how did you cope with the drive when in labour? or did you stay in town for your EDD?
I'm a bit stressed about a 45min drive to Albany regional.
