I'm planning on going to the doctor this week because concieving is taking longer than I'd hoped. I am 35, I haven't used protection since giving birth a year ago and I've had PPAF since March. My cycles since giving birth have been between 41 & 45 days and I'm not sure if I am ovulating. I am currently on CD39 and have only gotten BFN's for this cycle so am expecting AF this week.

What should I be asking the doctor for and what sort of information is he going to need from me. I want to be prepared to ask for everything that is available to help me as I really want to get pregnant ASAP and don't want to be made to wait. I'm afraid of being pushed around so I want to go in informed about what is available.

If its your GP (assuming it is) that you're going to see, just tell him you have really long cycles, not sure if you are Oing and as you're 35 you want to see a gynob to see what is going on. The first thing he will most likely suggest is PCOS..... whatever he or she does say make sure you ask for BT to see how you're hormone levels are and whether or not you O'd this month. Also ask for an U/S to rule out cysts on your ovaries and to see if everything is ok around that area. Then these results can be sent to the specialist you are going to see. Although they will most likely be sent to your GP first..make sure you tell him to send them to your gynob or better still ask for them so you can take them to the specialist appointment with you.

Goodluck.....:fingerscrossed: you will be getting some answers very soon! Just a warning though, you may have to wait a couple of months to see a specialist.

Let us know how it all goes!

Thanks for your help. No AF yet so I'll make a GP appointment tomorrow and ring my OBGYN too and :fingerscrossed: I can see him soon.
