Hi. How are you? I'm... ok.

My DS (nearly 7 months) is now at home after being in hospital for five days being tube fed. We are having to tube feed him at home...

He is being tube fed because he WILL NOT have formula, in either a bottle or a cup, or mixed with food. He will not breastfeed for longer than a minute or two. Because of this, he had fallen into the final percentile in the growth charts.

I've been watching his decent on the charts for a few months now, and have been taking him to emergency departments three times for not feeding before he was finally admitted - thanks to my CHN.

Prior to going to hospital, we were at Riverton where by Wednesday they had told me there was nothing they could do to help us because DS has 'food refusal'. They basically starved him the entire time to 'get him hungry' for the bottle/cup. So of course, he lost weight.

I have been through hell and back going insane at Riverton when they wouldn't feed my child - not that they were any help to me anyway. Wouldn't let me breastfeed either. In the end I just grabbed my son and chucked him on the breast while they argued about 'letting me go home'.

Has anyone had this problem? Where your baby WILL NOT have formula, because of the taste of it?

'They' just tell me I will have to tube feed him for the next few months, have just given up trying to find a reason WHY.

My daughter would not drink her bottles, starting at age 9 months. She was breastfed until 14 weeks, then had cranio-facial surgery, then refused the breast (refused the bottle too, poor wee mite with stitches up her nose and in her top lip, we had to use a squeezy bottle) and then was put on formula full-time at about 16 weeks. At about 9 months old she just flat-out refused her bottles. She was eating well though, solids, and having yogurt and cheese, so it was no big deal.

Is your little one eating food? From what you've said, it doesn't sound like it. What about Pentavite? I gave that to Vallerie when she was 2, she wouldn't eat much and her GP said that it's not only a vitamin supplement, it can also increase their hunger. Maybe something like banana smoothies? Will he eat/drink anything at all? Will he drink water?

:hugs: to you, must be ultra-stressful. :hugs: :hugs:
