We read to DS every day and at least one bed time story each night - it's so much fun!
I read to Azalea every day. The only time she will sit & listen is in the bath so I read the same 4 stories over & over again I really do need to get some more bath books.

My 3 yr old DS loves books. I often read the FDC children many stories during the day and by evening time my DS usually goes to his book shelf and pulls out at least 3 stories for DH and I to read to him. He would keep going back for more if we didn't tell him.... humm, no more tonight hun ;) we'll read some more in the morning
I read to him whenever he is willing to sit still for long enough. Usually every couple of days.

DS loves reading books. I have to read about 5 bedtime books and up to 10 books during the day. I love buying books for him and I love reading books to him.
right from when they were babies I would read to them several times a day. Now they are 4 and almost 2 and I would read them at least 3 books a day. We just love books :smiliedance:

She's a children's author and a read-aloud advocate. She's a little gung-ho about some of it, but she has some fantastic ideas and advice.

I voted once or twice a week....Steven or I try to read to Oliver every day, and some times we go a week or so and do it every day, but then other times things just get to hectic and we end up only doing it once or twice in the week!
He has just started holding onto the pages, its so cute! :D

Multiple times every day!!! DS just loves his books! When he was younger I would often forget to read to him, but there were always books around. One day (around 10 months) he started showinga huge interest in books and we havn't looked back! He is now 17 months old and will listen to story after story after story - without a doubt one of his favourite things to do! I love that he loves reading. Both df and I are avid readers adn jsut love reading to ds. I will always stop what I'm doing if ds asks for a book to be read!

Every day. At this stage babe is only six months old, so there isnt a terrible lot of recognition but apparently it is the way you read to them, the intonation you use and the use of correct grammar that books generally use is fantastic for their reading skills later (teacher information)

My bub is now 18 months and I have read to him everyday (give or take a few) since he was around 3 months old.
Since he was 13 months we usually do about 1 hour of story time each day, snuggled on the bed together - I love it - its the only time my little ratbag will sit still. He now chooses which books he wants to read (he does have his favs) - its my absolute favourite time of day.

Everyday. At every meal time we read a book while dd is eating. It takes her mind off the food and she loves it.
She also will bring a book up to me throughout the day and we will read.

I read to Samuel everyday, sometimes 2-3 times a day :)
He loves his books, especially, Dr. Seuss! In fact, I've memorized some of them already!
Every hour or so! DD loves books, she's always running up to me with a book shoving it in my face to read!:D
We read to dd before her afternoon sleep and before bed. She chooses the books (at the moment, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is her favourite and it's usually this and another 2-3). She also like "reading" books to herself and many a time during the day she will bring a story for me to read to her. She's a book worm ;) .
We read a few books just about every day. It really pays off ! My big two LOVE reading and are fantastic readers - well above the expectations for their age.
Oops - I don't read to them at all. I used to read to my eldest few kids every now and then but I was often too busy.
I love books myself, though, and there are bookshelves and bookshelves overflowing in our house.
Funnily enough, the A B and D children are all brilliant readers - D could read at 3 1/2 and is gifted in reading - I don't know why !
Everyday just before going to bed :-)

Yea same here, I try to once day but it doesn't always feel very productive as he just keeps turning the pages before I can actually read any of it, perhaps I expect too much of my 15month old??

I chose other as its every day, often numerous times
I also chose other as I read to my DD every day, sometimes numerous times, she loves books (especially chewing on them:rolleyes: , and turning the pages:D ). We have done so since she was a couple of months old, they say its never too early to start!!

I read to my son every day, and have been since he was born.....it has got him into the habit of going and getting a book and bringing to me if he wants to read. He's 12 months, so i dont always get to finish the book, as alot of the time he well start pointing to the pictures and saying "daaattt", so i tell him what it is, noises it makes etc.
But he loves it......

DS was a late starter but just having the books around helped start him off I believe- He brings books to me at least once a day and I catch him sitting on the couch 'reading' to himself at least once or twice a day. I think it's gorgeous  Both DH and I are book lovers and DH writes too.
I started reading to my daughter when she was one month old. She's now five months old and we read at least three books each day. She loves it! I have to make sure she has had some fun playtime and then when she gets quiet, it's definitely a good time for reading. I've got a huge pile of books (some new, some from when I was a child) so I mix and match each day, but quite often read the same one over and over again!
Mem Fox's Reading Magic, as well as Jim Trelease's Read Aloud Handbook are excellent resources for parents.
Oh, Laura and I also joined the local library so we can go to read aloud storytime sessions and I can get new books out for her on a regular basis.

I chose other because I read to her every day - mostly a few times a day. She loves books so I figure I should encourage it! We read together in the afternoon, and also when she goes to bed at night. She'll often bring a book to me to read to her.
We do a trip to the library about once a month! But we also own quite a few books.

Arthur is 8 months and we have about 15 or so books that we read to him. Some are longer than others, some are just really great pictures that we talk about. Some french some german some english. Sometimes he's keen to read and lots of times he likes to really digest them-literally..
everyday and often numerous times each day
DS loooves books.... newspapers... junk mail... you get the picture!
So yes, I do read to him several times a day!

I voted "Other" as I tend to read to DD several times a day. It's nothing that I make a conscious effort to do, it's just that she has a million books of every type & description (can never have too many in my opinion!!) and one of her favourite things to do is to pull them all down off the coffee table (I keep a lot of them there for her). So every now & then I will just grab one & read it to her. She wasn't very into it for the first few months of her life, but now at 9m of age, she just LOVES it!! She has her favourite books & will grin along to all her favourite bits.
Every day at bedtime and several times a day when he brings me a book he wants read.
