THis is going to sound sooo bad for DH ... I got home on day 3 and cooked dinner that afternoon after making coffee for him & the neighbours that 'popped in' within 10 minutes of getting home!
Just to squash any rumours or vindictive thoughts ( !) - I wanted to as I felt really lazy after having staff 'look after' me in hospital. Crazy aren't I??!!
I love to cook! Chris says he's cooked a few meals since I've returned.. I think he's talking about the time he reheated something that someone else cooked and some KFC that he picked up on his way home one night. :p
I don't mind tho'.. with me only having the one (and a new one at that!) I don't really have an excuse not to get back into the kitchen! I just make sure that I prepare the meal between feeds and start to cook when Chris is due home so that if Wee Man wants a feed he can stir whatever's on!
My Bf's parents made a dinner for me & him which they brought around to my place the day i got home from hospital but apart from that I've been cooking since lol
I think i had a quite bit of take away food also at the time
Ha! I was in the kitchen the week I got home. Getting my hubby to cook is like pulling teeth!
I had my mum come up after Nathan was born so she did all the cooking for the 2 weeks after he was born:thumbsup:

 16 months on and i'm still not back there.....thank goodness....
I admire everyone who is though....that's strength!!!
I had a c-section and was in hospital for a week but the day I came home I cooked. DP can't cook.
It took a few weeks. DBF does not get home early from work so there was no one there to take over if DD needed a feed. On top of that, she'd wake at 3pm and that would be it for the night, no more sleeps until 1am. You could not leave her, she wanted to bf the whole time. And it wasn't like I could wait until she was down for the night to eat. Technically I was organisng my own dinners but it would be things like those pasta's and sauces where you just boil the water and pop the sauce in the microwave, or re-heat a lasagna I'd made before giving birth and had frozen. On weekends when I had someone home to help I would cook but through the week it took about 6 weeks.

can i move in :p :p
We had visitors about 2 weeks after Hugh was born, it was only my parents but still 2 more to cook for. You'd think your mother would help wouldn't you!?
I was also trying to get organised for a busy period here on the station so I was going crazy making cakes and biscuits. Should have said stuff it and got them from Woolies!
Then week 3, MIL and BIL came up to stay. MIL helped a lot but at the end of the week we had 6 or 7 for cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for nearly a week and MIL had to leave. Angus did the breakfasts and then his Mum came back again, thank God!
Next time I'll try and plan a better time to have a baby!
Was in hospital for 5 nights, got out the day before mothers day so hubby cooked that day and the next, then i did it mostly as he was home to play with bub,but if i asked or bub was due for a feed he would do it while i fed DS then we could eat. He will cook but i like to do it so he gets to spend that time entertaining Blake. We both win...i get a break and he gets a play!!
Although i had to have my gall bladder out when DS was 4 weeks so DH had a few more days of cooking for us!!

It was easy. I just prepared the meals beforehand and reheated!

I was in the kitchen within an hour of landing home from the hospital, and at the market doing the shopping (with DH's help) the day after that.
It was a few weeks before I was back in the kitchen  ,DH was home anyway after being laid off when bubs was born.
Besides,I was too busy being permanently glued to the lounge BF'ing DD to even go near the kitchen.:D Was a good excuse not to cook.

I had a c/s too, and was in hospital for a week, but if i remember rightly, we had take-away the first night home, and then i cooked from the next day on....DH can cook, but i'd rather eat my own cooking to his....;)

I have been married for four years and my husband had been cooking that entire time until 4 weeks ago when I decided that I can mangage this cooking gig! Well, I'm having a go anyway! DH has a lot he needs to teach me, he's a great cook and still loves to do a Lasangne, hamburger strogonoff or a risotto, his specialties :chef:
I'm starting to really love it and it's good knowing that he's getting time with DS and DD while I try to make something edible in the kitchen. Something strange I've noticed though: He cooks and I clean up later... but I cook and I clean up later. Hmmmm :detective:
