Welcome to Bubhub, Sam! I'm one of those 'older' mums too-which makes me laugh really because I'm not that old! But compared to so many Bubhubber's, it does sound old! The last six months on here has seen an explosion of young "whipper-snappers"!;)
Oh and for the record, I've just turned 36.:D

Hey Funckychicken!
Thanks for your reply.... It's nice to meet you.
There are certainly a lot of younger mums around here. Lets hope that we can give them some good advice..... seems like I find myself saying "Been there, Done that..." a lot more these days.
Yesterday my partner Shane & i brought forward to bring froward the date of our wedding to 20 Jan 2007. Which means now I am furiously making plans & I have absolutely no idea what I am doing! We are on a tight budget, so have to keep things small & simple. Luckily that's the way that I wanted things. Have you got any cost effective suggestions, I'd appreciate any kind of input.

Hope things are good at your place.

Hello, I have just joined in today as well. I am 32, hubby is 41 and we have a beautiful baby girl that is 10 weeks as well as 3 boys from my husbane's first marriage, they are 13, 11, and 9. the 13y old lives with us and the 11 year old arrives in september with the youngest coming when he turns 12. Most days i can hardly believe that I am 32. Especially when I thought i was going to be 25 when I had my first child. But my ex husband made sure that wasn't going to be. and aren't I very greatful now....:D:wave:

Hello Hels*Bels:wave:
&
Hello Nikkiiandriley:thumbsup:

It is really lovely to meet you both. Thanks for your replies, I am looking forward to getting to know you both.
CONGRATULATIONS on your first bub Hels, what a wonderful time for yourself & your partner. I hope you are having an easy pregnancy. Do you know what you are having yet? It's all so exciting. I had my first bub at 23 & my las bub at 33!! No more for me, Im happy to sit back & enjoy watching my kids grow up.
I hope that you enjoy the site Nikkiiandriley, there are some lovely people to meet.
My partner is actually 26 days older than me. & Boy! do I let him have it for those 26 days.... he hates it!!!
Isnt it funny how we think that we want something, then when our circumstances change we are greatful that our wishes didnt come true. When I was younger (surprised that I can think back that far....), I wanted to be with this guy right or wrong, when his mother interfered & he broke it off with me, I thought my heart would break. Now I see how he treated/treats the 2(!!!) women that he did marry & I am so greatful that I got out of that situation. One day I will thank his mother, cause she really did me a favour. Back then I thought she was an old cow!!!
I hope to hear from you both again soon
Take care
Sam:D

Yes life is full of change, and most for the better. My x mother in law was the same. she had 4 kids all married and there would have been an out law every month. She had me as an outlaw for a record 8 months once.
Now my husbands family is wonderful and last year when things weren't so good between hubby and me, (just boyfriend then) I spoke to his mum and she told me not to go anywhere and he would just have to get over his issues. (all tied into his x with his kids) Now we are both very happy, married and he now has his little girl. We are now trying to decide when next baby will come along.:smiliedance:

Hello to all the new 30+ mums! Nice to have some new faces aboard. I'm Jacqui and I have an 18 month old son. I'm 39 and like you Hels*Bels I was pregnant at 36 and had Spencer when I was 37. Gotta tell you the poor old bod takes a while to resume something resembling its old shape.

Hi Ladies

I have also noticed alot of "VERY" younger mums and for a while thought that older mums just didn't have babies.
I am 31 and had my first bub 6months ago. I hope to have another baby when he is about 3 (everyone has encouraged me to wait until he is toilet trained and I kind of like the age gap too).

I am very lucky because my sister who is 7 weeks pregnant at the moment is 28 and my sister in law has two kids under 2 and she is 29. One of my best friends is 31 also and has a 12 week old and a 4 year old. It is nice that we are all close in age.

Hannahsma, you wanted some suggestions on how to keep things low budget for your wedding, 2 words for you - SHOP AROUND! I got severely ripped off for my wedding because I didn't have the time to shop around  . I wish I had of, I think I would have saved buckets of money. Hope all goes well for your big day. I look forward to chatting with you.

:yelclap: Yay- I'm so pleased! It seems that every time I open a new thread lately, it has been posted by a very, very young person. Don't get me wrong, I do have some level of tolerance but it's more about the identifying factor. I think back to when I was early 20's and can't imagine that I would have any interest in chatting with 30+ women online! Now I look forward to welcoming you ladies here. So with that, welcome to Nikkiandriley as well as a welcome to the other posters here.
These day I get along preety well with my MIL. I think she actually respects me these days! When DH (then DF) and I announced our engagement, she looked me in the eye and asked, "Are you pregnant?" Thankfully, 12 years on from then, we have a relationship that works. But she is quite the nosey-posey and I had to change my username a little while ago as it was the same as my Ebay name which she often looked up  . I thought it best to change it before she worked out how to google it. I have never made any nasty reference to her online but I like that this is my private chating ground.
As far as weddings on the cheaper side? Admittedly ours was 11 1/2 years ago but we did it for about $3000 tops. We got married in a garden, my dad (amatuer photographer) took all the photos, we had the reception on mum and dads block next door to their house, borrowed all the tables and chairs from the local primary school, had a spit style luncheon, had dads friends act as barmen, the list goes on. It can be so simple and still really beautiful. All the best with your plansand I look forward to chatting with you ladies more often.:D

Hi, I'm Kylie... I'm glad to have found this section as I was starting to think most of the mums here were all young uns!! Not that I have anything against young mums!! I'm 34 and have a 3year old and a 4.5 month old!!! As far as weddings go I believe in the 'Keep It Simple' strategy and spend the money on the things that are important to you!! For me that was flowers...spent heaps on them and they were beautiful!! We didn't have bridal cars as such just borrowed friends and gave them a wash etc!!! Hope to chat to you all real soon!!:D

Hi

I'm 27 and DH is 28 but I most of my friends with kids are in their mid 30's so I really feel more comfortable chating with people in their 30's than 20's.

I have a beautiful 3 year old tomorrow (DD) and planning to fall pregnant again by Oct/Nov, hopefully, as I don't want too big a gap between kids.

Not really looking forward to pregnancy again but can't wait to hold a baby again.

Hope you don't mind if I chat here.

Hey everyone.
I didn't realise I was an 'older mum' until my doctor informed me of this. I know it's been a while since I've been there, our kids are 22 ( my hubby's), 15, 13 and 11. We are due for our first combined bub in late october. We've been together 8 years and weren't quite expecting it but are really looking forward to it now. With two sisters aged 15 and 13 all I can say is this little fella will be the most fashionable boy in hospital when he arrives.
Had a rotten cough for 3 weeks now and have torn my rib muscles...anyone else been through anything similar? If so what on earth did you do for the pain. I'd rather be having bub....... any advice would be great:yelclap:

sorry to hear about your rib cage, di_matt. i've never had anything like that before. can you strap it maybe? if you don't mind me asking, di-matt, how do you feel about going back to the baby stage after steering your other kids all the way to teenhood?

:hugs: I can sympathise with you about the coughing. I had flu at the beginning of july and the coughing nearly killed me. Luckily I didn't do anything as drastic as you, but I would screw myself into a small ball when I coughed (especially in bed). I was really worried for the health of my unborn bub too, not nice. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi spencerswmum. In answer to your question about how I feel going back to babyland after teenage terrors. All I can say is now that we are over the shock it's all good. Guess 2 year old tantrums won't be any worse than teenage hormones. Had more trouble with my partner driving me nuts. he is just a little protective to say the least...but then it is 22 years since he went through it all. Happy to report my ribs appear to be improving just added a runny nose into the mix. I can deal with that.
Thanks for youe query email is di_matt@hotmail.com if you want one on chats.
Take care:smiliedance:

my dp already has two grown up kids and when i said i wanted kids, he took a little convincing - which i understand. whenever spencer plays up, greg says, 'this is the easy part. wait til he's a teenager'. at least toddlers still love to give you a hug and a kiss, right.

hi to you, jasminesmum.

Hi spencersmum,
I know what you went though with convincing your dh in having more kids. when i met my dh he said that he loved kids and I let him know that i wanted kids of my own. then as the relationship grew and he got older and started getting a little bit more indipendance (can't spell this early in the day anymore) from his then 10yo. it took a lot of convincing write up to the point of an accident after an opp which coincided with his 40th(accident) and his first little girl born 9months later that came out the spitting image of him, now he is saying when is the second one coming...As much as i did ask for one 3hrs after she was born, (obviously still on a high) i said give me a few months, xmas would be great..:smiliedance:

nikkiiandriley, my dp and i did split up over the issue of kids. which was fair enough at the time. i understood him being reluctant but i also didn't want the option of having kids taken away from me. it's a difficult issue because you really can't compromise - someone has to change their mind and be happy about changing their mind. my dp is a fantastic dad and love his kids. he's mentioned a second for us...now i'm the one who'd not so sure!

Hi again. Hels, I see you are having your bubba at Casey. I had Hamish there last year and couldn't have been happier with the care and the way I birthed Hamish. The midwives are fantastic and they pretty much just followed my lead throughout labour and birth. All the best-hope your prenancy is going smoothly for you.:)
