Any ideas?

My friend has just been told that she will only get minimum child support now.

I don't know how he gets away with it. He must have everything in his wifes name. He owns 1 house, and 1 flat in the city, they also live in a mansion. They own 2 nice flashy cars and he also works but gets paid cash in hand. He just got back from a regular fun trip with mates to Las Vegas.

Up until now he was putting in $100 a month in CS but now he has stopped it.

My friend has rang CS and they have said there is nothing they can do without hard physical evidence that he is working.

So how do you catch them? Or is there anyway to get around this? It just seems so wrong!

If he works cash in hand I don't think there's anything that can be done. Same thing goes for if he has his own business but pays himself a minimal wage.

If however he works for someone else she could get his wages garnished. She only has to ask them to start collecting it on her behalf & provide the name of the company (perhaps their address or phone number as well).

No, as far as i know he works by himself. His tax return last year or the year before was $30k and then the next one was $15k so her payments are now minimum. So i would say he is doing what you mentioned above. He is earning way more then that. I think his wife owns her own business too.

He may have a company set up and only pay himself a minimum amount- and have all the assets owned by the company. Not a lot she can do.

My "sperm donor" did this for years.
He left my mum and 4 kids under 7 and got a job cash in hand.
When he won lotto(was about 400 000)he put it all in his partner name and legally it was hers so my mum couldnt get anything.

CSA couldnt do anything as they didnt have enough proof he was working.
She gave up trying to get anything
Dead beats like this should be steralised.

:hugs:for all the parents having these "dead beat" problems

You can try the reassessment process. It worked for me. You have to give the csa all your financial details and they get the FOB to provide his. You say how much you think he earns and why and they consider assets. They take asset hiding very seriously and the people in the reassessment dept are very helpful and knowledgable. If he doesn't provide his details to you, [they post them to you as part of the process], they are likely to take your word for it and up the payments, which is what happened to me. Mine went from minimum to $400 a month, based on what I said he earned, as he refused to submit his bank statements.

my ex husband and his wife tried to put all money in her name, (they have a business) but csa still made him pay $80 a week for my 2 kids as they said he has the ability to earn an income, maybe call csa and ask them about that. not sure how it works though because i didnt do anything to make it happen csa just did it
