DS is 6 months old and is in his cot in our room, and I don't know when to put him in his room!

I don't want to leave it too long as then it will be hard to put him in his own room, but I don't want to put him in his own room yet :o.

When did you put your baby in their own room? How were they with it? What were your reasons for having the baby in with you?

The day they got home from hospital. Even in hospital, I had them up in the nursery at night. I could still hear them cry up there and I could tell them apart from the other babies.

At three months, when he was only waking once in the night for a feed. I don't think there is any "right" time, just the time that is right for both of you. :)

It was two weeks for us because she was so noisy!! DD would begin to wake up at 3am, but not actually open her eyes and ask for food until 4am. Feeding would take about 30-45 minutes, then (back then) it took another half an hour or so to settle her back to sleep. By which time it was past 5am, it was daylight so I couldn't sleep anyway!

It was doing my head in, so we moved her into her room, right next door to ours. We've such a teeny house that I could still hear her, but I wasn't waking up at every sniff and wiggle (or sqwark - sleep talker!) she made.

Vallerie went in her own room (right next door to us) at about 3 months old, but I hated it. I was young, thought it was "what you have to do", and completely ignored my instincts.
I co-sleep with Curtis and will do so for the forseeable future

We moved Andrew into the cot, and hence his own room, at around 4 months - when he was sleepign longer at night and we generally only had 1 wakeup for a feed. We all slept better in our own rooms...and still do. I have one of those rare babies that detests sleeping in his parents bed...weird.

Hi Poopa:wave:
I would move him when you feel comfortable. I don't think there is any need to rush.:)

I moved DD into her own room at 5 months, only because she was getting too big for the huge cradle she was sleeping in,and there was no room for her cot in our room.
I didn't like doing it,I felt awful,I loved listening to her breathing and making those little noises, but she was fine when she moved in there. No dramas at all.:)
