When you miscarry how long does the bleeding last for?

I think it varies - I believe it can be up to a week, but then with both of my m/cs I had a D&C so it might be different.

If it is worrying you, go and see a GP - sometimes our bodies don't pass everything naturally and you need a D&C, which is what happened to me after my second m/c.

It does seem to vary greatly; mine at Christmas was very very early, maybe earlier than yours, not sure, and I bled for nearly 3 months. I wish I had gone for a D&C, at the time it made me too sad to admit to myself I needed it. Maybe go to the doc and see if he thinks it is necessary?

That way you can be sure your body is getting back on track.

I was 10 weeks PG when i had my MC and my bleeding only lasted 4 days.
The day i had my MC I called my OB and she said unless i was in pain or there was very heavy bleeding I didnt need to go to the hospital to be checked over and could wait the 6 days till my appoinment with her to see if i needed a D&C thankfully i didnt need one.

I think that is what I am doing. I have also had two D&C's already so I am worried of the damage another may do??

The bleeding has slowed done considerably to what it was and not passing any shreddy/clotty like bits but it is still red and need a pad or two. I spotted for about 4 days, then bled heavily for two and now on day 3 of a lighter bleed. So 9 days so far...

I was just over 5 weeks.

I miscarried recently too and am still bleeding (no D&C). I was 10 weeks and it was 3 weeks of threatened m/c and bleeding, 3 'peak' days for the miscarriage to be mostly over, with heavy bleeding and clotting for about a week after, and I am still bleeding now, but mildly (like the second last day of a PD) - having said that I just ovulated as well, the ovulation seemed to slow the bleeding considerably. Even though Doc wanted me to do a D&C this week if it doesn't stop, I think I'll just ride it out particularly as it's possible that I might have conceived.

I was also told by the gentleman who did my ultrasound last week that as I have a retroverted uterus it sometimes takes longer for the endometrium etc to clear out - and that makes sense as I usually am still bleeding at the six week check up after having a baby.

Hi Kristy,

I had spotting for 4 days before the M/C and then bleeding for 9 days after. My Dr told me to come in and see If I needed a D/C if the bleeding hadn't stopped by day 10 after the actual M/C. So thankfully I didn't need one either.

Good luck honey, give yourself a little time for the bleeding to stop before really worrying about it.

Twinkles, how long did it take for Ovulation to occur? Did it still occur around the same thing as if it were a period?

Hi!

I ovulated about 8-9 days after M/C :eek: On the last of the 3 worst days, the miscarriage was complete, and 8 days later I was showing all ovulation symptoms, mine is very obvious too! This happened (yesterday) the day after hubby and I decided, that though we can't replace the one we lost, we still would like to try for another.

My ovulation is normally later in the cycle, if the m/c was 1st day of last PD, I should have ovulated around the 7th of next month as I have a 32 day cycle so I'm not sure what has caused it really, but my first munchkin was definately conceived on day 5 of my cycle (whilst I was still having my PD), rather unexpectedly :D so I think my body just plays ball with the eggs sometimes.
