When you were TTC did you plan the age gap between your babies? Did you plan equal age gaps for all children? Do your children have varying age gaps?

Between numbers 1 and 2, we have a 15mth gap. They were both planned, but we didn't expect me to fall pregnant the month after I stopped taking the pill. We thought it would take about 8mths like it did with #1. 15mths is a good gap, but I think 2yrs would be better.

Between numbers 2 and 3, there is a 5.5yr gap. It sucks!!!! DS2 is always a loner, the others don't want to play with him because he is too little. He was a pill baby though, so VERY unplanned.

I ticked no, but it's a bit of a long story - when I got pregnant with Vallerie I started thinking about "family planning" and age gaps. I decided that 5 years is a perfect age gap for our family. Me, I know my limitations, and I know how I want to parent my children in their early, formative years. So I thought 4 children, with 5 years between each (I had Vallerie at 22 yo) would be perfect.
We split up when she was 2, obviously "family planning" was the last thing on my mind for a couple of years... then we got back together, and we didn't discuss more children, it just kind happened. Vallerie was 4 yrs 9 months when Curtis was born.
So we didn't plan it per se, but it happened just how I wanted it to (with some drama in between!)

I had always said I'd like to have our first when I was around 28. Ds arrived when I was 28 and 3 months. I had always liked the idea of 3 years between babies so as to give each one loads of my time:rolleyes: . Anyway, DS was 1 and I was so desperately clucky, I said to DH (shaking in my boots) do you think we should think about another baby and he said, Yeah, great idea.:smiliedance: So away we went and 5 months later I was pregnant.
So we had our pigeon pair and although I was always a bit on the clucky side, we got on with our lives-then I found out I was pregnant:eek: . So, yes, we planned the first gap and No, we didn't plan the second gap. But how blessed are we that we got to have another gap!

We did with the first two. There is a 19 month gap between them.

I grew up with two older brothers who are 4 and half and 6 years older than me and always felt like an only child in some ways, and so when I had DS I said I would never have a big gap. Worked out well

THEN....I started to get clucky and the baby idea struck again, and now I will have a 4 and a half and 6 year age gap between the first two and the new bubs  Just what I always said I would never do!!

Who knows, if it's lonely I might try for number 4!! (over DH's dead body he says! )

Yes we planned our gaps. There is 21 months between our 1st two boys and 2 years and 4 months between the 2nd and 3rd sons. We are thinking about number 4 but it would be a bigger gap, more like 3 years. We are so busy running around with school, kindy etc that I would like number 3 to be a bit more independent before having another child. And all 3 are good mates!

My first two have an 18 month gap - which was most unplanned! We were planning a 2 1/2 yr gap for #3, but it took 6 months longer than we planned to get pregnant. I'm glad now it's a 3yr gap though!

I couldn't really vote. We wanted our kids fairly close together, but #2 was a surprise and we ended up with a 23 month gap. As it turns out we will get pretty much a 23 month gap between #2 and #3 also, depending when bubs comes out, so it's pretty much what we wanted. But I don't think you can every plan it that closely.

I have a gap of 3yrs 2mths between my girl and boy then 2 1/2 years between my boy and my baby.
I like the gap of 3 years or more.
Next time I like a gap of 5 years.

Between my 2 there is almost 4 years. I would have liked a maximum of 3 year gap, but fate had different ideas. We were TTC for a while and lost 2 angels, I guess the gap was just meant to be 4 years! I'm glad the way it worked out though.

the gap between #3 and #4 was certainly a surprise, we'd planned on 2-3 years after #3 was born to start TTC then found out I was 5 weeks preg when #3 was 17 weeks!
