Surf and Turf sounds great! I'm doing salmon for DP.
I don't have a salt and pepper squid recipe unfortunatley cause I hate the stuff, but try going to the library and reading through one fo the seafood cookbooks, particularly if you can find an Australian one... they usually have really great recipes in them.

I've never used a salt and pepper squid recipe, but I have made it!
I just put about a teaspoon of plain flour or corn flour and I guess a teaspoon each of salt and pepper all in a plastic bag then toss the squid in it and shallow fry. The key is to cook it in really hot oil and only for about 20 second on each side. Don't overdo it. It should melt in your mouth if you eat it hot and shouldn't be tough.
Yum yum good luck!! :D

i never had complaints when cooking S&P at work
id slice the squid on a angle in to dimond shapes then score on the dimond (this helps it to curl up and crisp nicely)
then put that a PLASTIC bowl crack in enough eggs to cover a dash of milk and either a clove of crushed garlic or a choped kiwi fruit( the garlinc/kiwi fruit will soften the squid so its not chewy you can also use paw paw the milk and egg will also help with this and hide the real fishy smell) leave for at least a hour
in another bowl mix a cup of corn starch with cup of flour 3 heeped table spoons of sea salt and a goodly grind on cracked black pepper
a little pinch of chilli flakes works well too
cook in hot oil (around the 100-110 degree mark but not to hot or it will burn the coating (a good way to tell if its hot enough is that if you drop one piece in it should float midway for about 5 seconds then rise to the top or put a wooden spoon in if bubbles come out of the wood its good) take them out when they start to curl up and drain well dont try cooking to many at once or your oil temp will drop and they will go greasy
are you going to put it on a salad?
if so want a dressing to match?
