DS is about to turn 1 :yelclap: and was just wanting some advice on chaning his formula... He is currently on Nan HA stage 2 but im needing to change as this particular formula is so darn expensive & plus he is fine on cows milk so doesnt need to be on a HA formula anymore...
so i need to change it, there are lots of cheaper ones out there than the one he is on....
i think its best to keep him on a formula as he is a very poor eater & very little, so he needs all the nutrients he can get from formula.
can anyone suggest a good formula?? im thinking possibly Karicare but am i better keeping him on a stage 2 or starting the stage 3?? i know that stage 3's have sugar added ect, but they also have a higher fat content then the stage 2's...
or do you think i should just put him on cows milk??
what does your 12 month + baby have??
any advice or reccommendations??
cheers

Personally id stay away from toddler formula, there full of sugar & not much else. There really isnt any reason he needs to change 'stages'. You can add extra oil to his bottle or keep fortifying.
pentavite??
Multi vitamin, possibly would have been on it in NICU. Smells like pineapple, tastes grose & is really sticky.

yeah i give him pentavite almost every day... yep he was on it in SCN
i think il just change him to another brand but keep him on the stage 2.... NAN HA is getting rediculous in price :detective:

Keep him on the Pentavite, Im still running it here.
One thing i found with Karicare is that it was so watery, its really thin & didnt stay down.

thanks krystal!! gonna go check them all out today & compare
My son has been on cows milk from 12 months. He was on Karicare HA AR before that.
At the 12 month MCHN visit she told me that they don't need formula past 12 months. She said they need to be getting their nutrients from food, not milk. She said toddler formulas were basically just a marketing ploy by the companies that sell them.
He's doesn't eat a great variety of food but he's still thriving.

If he's ok with milk then you shouldn't need to continue with formula. Milk plus a balanced diet from 12 months worked fine for my 3, if you have a picky eater or poor growth then you might want to add vitamin supplements etc.
Goodluck!

I think it really depends on his overall dieat as to whether you keep him on a formula or not. 2 weeks before DS's 1st birthday we didn't have enough money to buy formula so we put him onto cows milk them. I used to give him the karicare toddler formula when he was having a bad day with food but on a normal day he'd just get milk.
If their diet is good there shouldn't be any need for a toddler formula.

Have a look in to some of the "Junior" milks on the market..... both my kids were on cows milk from 12 months and DS who is a crappy eater gets pentavite.
