I just had my neighbour knock on the door to see if ds is ok.
I had to do ds hair for headlice as he came home with them this morning. Now this is a child who hates his head being touched. So first I attempted to comb it which resulted in about five minutes screaming when I wasn't touching him. Then I decided I'd just shampoo it cause that was getting nowhere, which resulted in much more screaming.
I feel terrible for upsetting ds, and for the neighbour having to hear him, but nothing worked. I tried a movie, toys, food. Nothing.
So now I'm sitting here traumatized while ds watches Dora to calm down, and ignores me.
:hugs: wow that must've been some loud screaming! My boy can be a screamer sometimes (even in the middle of the night ) and thankfully I haven't had a neighbour come check... so far... lol.
I'm sure your neighbour understood once you explained it to him, my son screams when I try to wash his hair too.

when your child gets nits you have to do what you have to do!
It's a shame there is no easy way for you but at least your neighbor came to make sure everything was ok.
Try not to stress you have to do it! :)
:hugs::hugs::hugs:
I know what it is like, DS1 used to majorly scream everytime he needed his hair washed. He didn't like water on his face...now he is a swimmer, go figure

:hugs: At least you know you have caring neighbours lol. Don't worry Im sure my neighbours think I am murdering my son the way he screams and carries on. You were trying to do the right thing. Dont be embarressed. Could you try and comb his hair tonight while he is sleeping?

I look in it while he is sleeping, but the comb would wake him.
And my neighbours are like right outside my door, though it was extremely loud.
Tomorrow I am going to lacguer him in hair spray, lol he will probably scream just as loud about that.

This is why I resisted the urge to go next door and check to see if my neighbour was alright when her daughter was screaming.
But I was only going to check to see how the mum was coping, I know the daughter was fine, from across the hall I know she's a bit of a tantrummer, and she was chucking an epic one.
But I didn't go cos I didn't want her to feel self conscious.
Plus I'd already lied when the dad apologised for all the screaming on another occasion and I was like "what, oh, dont worry, I've never heard it" :o - ummm... ya... no... I've heard it... I've heard it for the last 3 years!
Poor parents!
I dont think any less of the parents, its not that I think they're bad parents, its just that I want to be able to do something to help them out! It must be overwhelming sometimes!

I think its nice that they care.
Maybe if a few more neighbours knocked on a few more doors a few less kids would be hurt.

fantastic comment Amanda! Your exactly right :D
As for the nits, unfortunatley you have to comb it to get the eggs.... but someone did post something recently about a home nit treatment using vinegar, & I'm sure she said it kills the eggs completely, maybe do a bit of a search it was only recently
Good Luck :hugs:

What a great neighbour! And you are a great mum...that is parenting from a place of love: giving your child what he needs but not always what he wants.

It was me :D
Spray some vinegar in his hair (even while he is asleep might do it!) and it kills the bugs (chokes them out) and it melts the nit eggs glue stuff. When he rinses it in the shower/bath they should fall off (hopefully). Once the vinegar dries he wont smell either. It might work....just do it as often as you can, since he wont let you comb it.
Dont worry about the neighbours, i think they were just trying to be nice.
Awwww :hugs: I hope you've seen the last of the pesky critters (lice ha ha) now! You've got to do what you've got to do. Much better than your son scratching for weeks on end!
