On saturday me and munch will be flying to Townsville - only a 2 hour flight but I am very nervous!

I am a nervous flyer at the best of times and will do everything I can to calm myself so as not to pass this silly fear onto my DD.

Any tips on how to keep her still for 2 hours - esp on take off and landing as she will be strapped to me - which she HATES!!

I am worried about her chucking a spak and crying and other people being mean to us or making remarks - you know the type!

Any tips at all would be soooooo appreciated.

Also can i ask to be put next to an empty seat if there is one? If not can i ask to have isle seating - way easier for nappy change etc.

thanks fellow bhers! :skywriter:

When you check in, ask to be re-allocated to a seat with a vacant spot next to it. If there is one, they are usually fairly accomodating.

On take off and landing, give her something to chew or a drink - something to keep her swallowing so her ears don't pop and hurt.

To keep her occupied, I'd take some of her favourite books, maybe some pencils and paper for her to scribble on. Is there any chance that she'd go to sleep for you? My son, at just under 2yo, fell asleep for a 1 hour flight :)

Good luck!! I hope you have a good trip!

Flying with kids is everyone worst nightmare! I work as a flight attendant and I still hate it!:o As long as you take some snacks (fruit, sultanas, cheese, bikkies, water etc) and have a couple of newish toys to keep their attention for a bit you will be fine.

Whenever I fly with my 2, I always take a colouring in book and some crayons for my DD to scribble on. It's hard when they want to get up and walk or crawl. When you check in ask them to seat you next to a spare seat if there is one available. Make sure you give your DD something to chew or suck on take off and landing so her ears don't hurt.

Apart from that just relax - if youre stressed your bubba will pick up on it. Most people understand completely what it is like to travel with littlies. I think parents are more concerned when their babies cry than other passengers.

Some airlines also hand out kids packs with a colouring in book and cards or something similar to, so that usually keeps them occupied for 10 minutes or so.

Good luck and have a fun trip!

When I flew with bub when I checked in they put me next to two empty seats, because it would at least give me a chance of having some space next to me, but both seats were taken by the time we took off.

The isle seat is absolutely the way to go

I just brought truck loads of food and drinks and his few favourite new toys and his favourite book.

And I also accepted that he would cry and hate it, and I just had to keep in mind it'll be over soon.

When bub was 3 months old and we flew the flight attends took him off me for cuddles, which was great, because all he wants is someone to hold him while standing.

We flew when he was 13 months, and he was okay, it was tough, but bearable.

Thanks ladies!

I have flown with her twice before from Bris to Tassy and she was quite good but that was when she was still being breastfed (great for take off and landing) and would fall asleep on boob and also she wasnt quite crawling then so she didnt want to get down really. The hosties loved her and kept taking off with her which helped too haha.

Now she is a 18 month mini cyclone that loves to go go go haha - oh well we will get through it best we can - she may suprise me too!

Any more tips keep em coming!
