Probably (hopefully) me just being my normal paranoid self  But it seems as though MJ's speach has gone backwards. She used to say alot more than she now does. She has just stopped and other than mum, dad, razor & dog, its all babble?
Is this normal? Or should i be concerned?
BTW she is 14.5months
Thanks

I think they must go through stages and stop doing things they use to...
DS use to say 'ta', wave goodbye & give kisses when asked and lalely he has stopped all of that... His latest thing is 'who's that' and its pretty much all he says...
I am sure that it is a normal thing and nothing to worry about...
Andrews speech and other things (waving etc) tend to come and go in waves.
I read once that certain things tend to take a backseat when they are learning something new...so for a while they focus on the new thing until they master it, and then they can incorporate everything else they have learnt IYKWIM.
I wouldn't worry too much :hugs:

They learn new words and practice those for a whiel but then they get sick of them i think and go back to the ones they need the most. My son did probably the same thing. After he turned 2 his speech really took off and you couldnt shut him up but before that it would come and go. I wouldnt be to worried for now, just give her some time and im sure she will talk again. Ahe might just be focusing on learning another skill for the moment.
One thing that I have noticed with both my girls: once they do learn a new skill - they then try all the "wrong" ways to do it. So you think, last week baby could do that thing / say that word, but now baby can't/has forgotten. But I think that, having found the right way (pretty much by accident) they then need to try all the wrong ways, just to make sure that the right way is the best way (other wise, how would they know?).
Does that make any sense?
And BTW at 14 months old - both my girls only had about 4 words each, talking didn't really take off until 20 ish months.
Cheers

Thanks so much for all the re-assurance :hugs:
She is very much into her yes & no's at the moment. MJ will pretty much quiz us. Points to eye's nose etc & when we say what they are, she will say "yes" or if we get it wrong says "no"
Thanks again
