i go to dr islam at oxenford medical centre. they bulk bill children under 16, and health care card holders. he is a father of one and hopefully will be soon to another so he is great with my son. he was also the first person to diagnose my epilepsy which i got told for years was nothing from soo many doctors. good luck

Hi Michelle
i had this prob too.
I posted a thread on here not long ago and so did someone else - I can't get my search working, but if you did one it would bring up the posts on the old threads.
I now take my bub to Helensvale medical centre where they have been bulk billing my bub - they aren't too bad there.

I go to the helensvale medical centre, I find it good there, my doc there doesn't bulk bill normall but does for pregnancy, i'm not worried about paying, cause shes been really good so far, I have no complaints about here

Georgia it was me I think that was enquiring about docs the same time as you, the thread has now gone cause they only last so many days without any posts in them, thats why you can't search for it

Hi Michelle,

I am obviously on Maternity leave at the minute but work at Arundel Plaza Medical Centre.:)

2 out of 3 Dr's BB EVERYONE There, I recommend DR TUCKER. He is a young English guy, so lovely with the little ppl of the world!:D . The only thing is that he is only there Mondys & Fridays at the moment. Dr Tomasevic is also lovely!

They are all great in my book!....real ppl. Open 8-7pm Mon-Frid. Sat & Sun 8-12.

Hope that helps chic. Any other questions feel free to Pm me or email, angelaanddavid@aapt.net.au

Cheers Girls!

I also go to Helensvale Medical Centre and have found them great. I see Dr Parsons and he is lovely. They bulk bill bub's immunisations but you have to pay for other consults as far as I know.

The other thing to keep in mind is the the after hours Med Call service. We found out about this when our bub was sick on the weekend. They bulk bill and come to your home (unreal huh!!) but can only be used after hours. I actually stumbled across the service when trying to get in touch with Helensvale Medical Centre after hours so I'm not sure how widely known it is. The number is 5531 1224.

Thanks for all the advice! Great to hear there are still some good doctors out there somewhere :) Also really good to know about the after hours service that comes to your house! Thats really handy. Had never heard about it b4.
Will let you know how he goes at the doctors, he has his first needles in 2 weeks
Is it true that sometimes bubs get a reaction from the immunization or get really grizzly for a few days afterwards?

All bubba's are different. Wyatt was OK for all his needles, but I do have a few friends where their kids were very restless the night they had their needles.

Dr Sally Kervison at the Helensvale Family Health Care Centre is just lovely. I see her for TTC and my sister takes her two girls to her and is doing share-care with her for this bub.

The Helensvale Family Health Care Centre is in the new Westfield and bulk bill under 16 years.

As popular as it seems to be, I don't think 'bulk billing' is the most important criteria to consider when choosing a doctor. I'd have to wonder if it should be considered at all.

Maybe you could let us know your definition of a 'good family doctor'.

Do you want someone who will just go along with whatever you say and toss antibiotics at you like lollies ? OR someone very thorough, who only medicates when absolutely necessary ?

Would you choose a friendly nature over experience or ignore a personality clash for knowledge ? Getting along with the kids isn't going to help much if he can't figure out what is wrong with them.

Pestiferous, Im sure that they know that already  NOT everyone can afford to fork out $$ EVERY visit and then have to get to a Medicare office to reclaim the $$. Hence why some girls here have given the info on Bulk Billing - just becuase DR's bulk bill, doesn't neccessarily mean their duty of care is lower than a private billing practice - there are some pretty shonky Dr's in and out of the private/public billing system.

These girls are giving their PERSONAL opinions of some Dr's on the Coast, the OP asked, they answered.
