how many times a day is normal?

Can anyone advise roughly how many times a day a 3 year old goes to the toilet? I know it depends how much they drink/eat etc but just looking for a guide. I've heard they shouldn't get in the habit of going too often, so that their bladder develops properly. How much is too often? Perhaps 'volume' is the key. We've been toilet training a month now and going very well. Virtually no accidents at home (#1 or #2). Occassional accidents (#1) when out. He goes about 6-7 times a day.

coop is 3 in june and he can sometimes every hour but sometimes can hold out for a good 5hrs. i guess mainly as you said, the amount they drink etc. never really paid attention to it tbh.
