I was asked today when I booked in if I want a sergical procedure or medical? I have read about both and dont know which to do. Does anyone have any advice? Theys aid sometimes with the tablets its easier cause you do it at home, but sometimes you can see the ejected fetus. Which would be easier to deal with, emotionally? Do it at home with my bf or in a room unconsious?

I take it you are completly sure of your decision?

I have been there and had surgical - to be honest I don't think I would have handled seeing anything at home. And to be honest even when you know yoou have made the right choice it can still be hard actually going through with it - at least with the surgical option you can detach yourself as its all done while you are sleeping.

The surgical was quite easy - a quick needle and I woke up about an hour later (maybe less) in no pain at all.

So I read somewhere on the net though it could be a scare tactic that it will damage my cervix if i have sergical is this true? Or is that not really true?

I had a termination, then my ds with no complications, then another termination. So I don't believe it has damaged my cervix in any way.

Thanks for sharing it couldnt of been easy. I am mostly scared they will tell me Im not far enough but I work somewhere that you shouldnt get pregnant. because you work really closely with your other staff members so they will know but I want it done before all tthe hormones kick in because it might sway the decision i have mad ewith my rationael mind instead of my hormonal mind.

It is hard to share but if it helps you it's worth it. I had my second one at exactly seven weeks so you should able to do it then. The only time you may have a problem is if you go to a dodgy clinic. It isn't an easy choice to make, hugs.

hi there i am booked in for a medical termination next week and i feel for me its the best decision i can be at home with my partner if you arent very far along (im less than 4 weeks) i dont think you would see much. but they can only do medical up to 9 weeks and surgical after 6wks.. hope that helps.. big hugs :)

Thanks for telling me i hope you will be ok, I dont know if i would be able to handle it or not even if i didnt see anything i will talk through it wit the person before hand and see what they recommend, the thing that is making me most nervvous is the ultrasound before hand as this will make me want to probably go against all my resons and change my mind. Which i dont want

you can ask them not to show you the monitor, if they refuse then just turn your head away. :hugs:

I had a child - a termination - a child then another as well and have had no problems.

I was 6 weeks exactly with the first and 6 weeks 3 days with the second.

I agree with finding a good clinic - both of mine were done with marie stropes - perhaps try and find out if they have a clinic near you - they have a great website and I even got them to put in a marena while I was out - which will cover me for 5 years (they did that for free)

Yes i am going with marie stopes too.

Good thing as they handled it really well. Make sure you take up their offer of contraception as its free.

The clinic I went you couldn't see the ultrasound monitor unless you asked - they didn't even tell you how far along you were unless you asked - they knew that the women were there having already made up their mind so they tried to be as discreet as possible to save you from being more confused.

Good luck with it and if you ever need to talk remember that alot of us here have been through it and are happy to lend an ear.
