HCG levels

How are HCG levels monitored? How often do they monitor them?
Does anyone know a link, or not what levels are normal in the first trimester ?

Now on a person experience, how often would a gp recommend them?

I only had my HCG Levels monitored because of some spotting - I had bloods taken and then roughly 48 hours later. They should doulble in this period. Mine were 3591 and then 2 days later they went up to 6360. I was about 5 weeks then. They do vary quite dramatically from person to person though...... Hope this helps :D
