Hi all!!

I'm just wondering what photo editing program you use?

I have used Photoshop CS3 and hated it! It was so hard to use, I felt like I needed a degree!!

I currently have Photoshop 7, and to be honest I haven't really used it much because I feel overwhelmed with it! I know that sounds silly (I work in admin so am usually pretty good with computers & programs) but there is sooo much you can do on it, I don't know where to start!! :confused:

I want to be able to do things like:
make pics black & white;
make pics black & white and leave some bits in colour;
special effects like blurring/making things fuzzy etc...

Does anyone have recommendations for a good, easy to use program?? I was thinking of maybe getting Photoshop Elements...?

TIA :flowerz:

I use phtoscape & Picasa, both free from Google. They are not anything fancy.

I have CS4 as soon as my friend installs it for me properly.

Have you tried looking on Youtube for "how-to" guides?

Selective colour-(b&W also)

blur background (crappy quality)

Photoshop is by far the best, but you do need to know how to use it. It is very complicated and confusing if you dont, but if you take the time to learn, it is SO worth it!
How to guides are good to watch and read, and there are millions out there! My DF is my how to guide LOL.

hey there! you can use this fantastic editing software online called picnik. just google the name and upload your pics and edit away!!!!

some of the software is restricted since its premium (you have to pay for) but I am happy with using the ones that are available. its about $25 a year if you want to upgrade to premium.

I use photoshop and love it.
I find it easy now that I can get my head around it.
If you google photoshop tutorial .... (... = whatever you want to learn) there are easy to follow tutorials.
HTH.
I've learnt to do some awesome things with it. Like turn backgrounds into Black and white and leave just blue eyes. Turn wedding pics black and white apart for the bride and groom.

Photoshop is probably by far the best - but yes it can be overwhelming and expensive if you dont already have it.
i would reccommend trying the website: download.com
its a website where you can download free or trial versions of nearly any programme so you are able to trial it for free before deccidign if you want to buy it.
as far as photo editing goes - i love Irfan view ( free) and photoscape ( free)
which can both be downloaded from the website above

I love Photoshop CS3. It can be quite daunting at first because there's so many things you can do, but once you look up tutorials on the Internet, you'll find that you can follow them pretty easy and soon you'll know the program basics, enough to do simple photo editing and how to use layers or levels haha.
Don't give up on Photoshop too soon, read tutorials, explore the program and soon it will come naturally to you!

If you find that it is still too much, the basic photo editing software that comes with most digital cameras these days is pretty straight forward. You don't have as much control but it does it's job!

Thanks guys! Great suggestion about watching tutorials on the net! I checked out a few yesterday on youtube & found them quite helpful :thumbsup: So I think I'll stick with Photoshop 7 for now and just try to fumble my way through it.

Thanks again for all your replies. :) and prepare to be on stand-by in case I get stuck... I may post a "can you help!?!?" thread :laughing:

Storybook Creator Plus 3.0 software from creative memories allows you to do all the stuff you mentioned above plus heaps more and much easier to use than photoshop.

I use photoshop elements 7 and i love it. When I first got it, I had no idea how to use it because it doesn't come with a manual :thumbsdown: but after buying a book on it and watching tutorials on you tube etc, I know how to do all the things I have wanted to do plus more, very happy with it now!
