Hi there I just sent you an email. :)

I had a really traumatic birth with my first one. It ended up a C section after an induction. I asked for an epidural after 6 hours of labour and this kid doctor put it in the wrong place so I was strapped to the machine, catheter in place so i couldn't get out of bed and no pain relief - for another 6 hours. I decided there and then that I wanted a doula for my next birth. I really wanted someone to take charge and help me find birthing positions that might take the pain away before I asked for the epidural. I felt there was so much more that could have been done. My midwife wasn't watching me properly as my mum was teaching her year 8 maths problems so she could help her son with his homework. My husband was trying to feed me sandwhiches - ?? - and I just wanted someone who knew what I might be needing.

I love my husband and mum but I think they were too upset to see me in so much pain knowing they couldn't do anything. It was asking too much of them to 'know what to do' to assist me.
