Hi everyone, im just wondering if you girls had a party for welcoming bubs into the world? If you did what did you do? Im wondering if its worth while having one. We did one for Jayden and only 10 people showed up when we invited 25!! Im worried that it will be worse this time cause she's our 2nd and no one will be bothered to come. I was going to incorporate my 21st into the party as well. I didnt get one last month as i was so far pg and was moving house. Do you think that it would be a good idea? I need your thoughts on this please.

We got out of hospital on the Wednesday, and on the Saturday night we just had some close family over - I think about 8 adults and a few kids, just for a short time. We cracked open a bottle of Veuve Clicquot which I had originally taken down to the hospital with visions of popping once she'd arrived......but as I ended up an emergency caeser, I was in recovery for so long that we never got around to it.......so we did it at home instead and it was great.
I'm now planning her christening for October and that for us is going to be a big celebration of Gemma :)

My family pretty much gave me a surprise one! on the 3rd day at Hospital after C's birth!!
Cierra slept thru the whole thing and I was thinking 'please go please go i need sleep while she is sleeping!' But there is no stopping my mum and sisters!!!
They brang pink champagne which the hospital staff turned a blind eye to. and they made a big cake with pink icing on top. it was great and all but they just wouldnt leave!!! my family has 7 ppl in it. plus there was Cierra, maarty and his parents and his brothers fam all in this dicky little ward and I could tell you I was feeling might claustrophobic!!
they were also meant to go by 8pm as visiting hours we only an hr long. they didnt leave until 9 and I got in major trub trubs for not telling them to bugger off! awww

We did - instead of just having the boys get together to "wet the baby's head", we invited our close friends (around 30 people showed up!) on the Saturday following Ethan's birth, which happened to be my birthday too. We didn't invite family as they are much older and only DP's family live nearby (apart from my sister - who surprised us with turning up with my other sister from overeast!). I'd been out of hospital since the Tuesday, and as I was feeling great, I didn't have a problem with it.

Oh yeah - I totally forgot..........as well my hospital gives you a 'passout' to go out with your husband one night while they look after bub in the nursery. So instead of the usual 'boys wet the baby's head night'........DH and I met a whole group of our friends and we had dinner and drinks at a hotel close to the hospital.....while I still had my hospital band on! It was great - although I do admit, one time I stood up a bit too quickly and it really hurt me (this was the Tuesday night after I had my emergency C-section on the Friday night). But that was also a nice celebration of our baby - I think everyone was a bit shocked that I was there too :)

we did.
In many cultures (including my DP) it is a tradition. Often it is 1month or 40days after the birth. During that time the Mother and child are often just at home doing nothing else but bonding and recovering. Then there is a celebration lunch and for us a (Buddist) blessing ceremony.
We had over 150 people. Nearly all DP's extended family and friends. Thankfully the mother doesn't have to do anything but bring the bub along.
We had a 'Welcome to our family' party, BBQ when Aussie was 2 1/2 weeks old. We just invited family and close friends. We got lots of pressies and everyone pitched in to clean up

We didnt at first. We had a party with our family and close friends after her Christening when she was 3 months old.
My husband however, went out for drinks with friends to celebrate while I was in hospital.
