We are about to have 2 weeks in kingscliffe for our holidays. Do you have any suggestions of great places to visit with a 3 year old? I'd appreciate any local advice. Last time we tried that terrible fruit world..... see I need help.

Hi ajoeygrey...

there are a few places I can think of...

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctury in Currumbin (just north of the Qld boarder) - I think you can get discounts on the woolies or coles shopadockets from tweed city.

There is a great little swimming beach called Little Duranbah which is at the mouth of the Tweed River just behind Twin Towns - we quite often see dolphins, cray fish, lots of other fish and the occasional little ray.. great if your 3 yo had goggles and is keep to have a bit of an explore in the water.

Out the back of Murwillumbah there are a few places - Crystal Creek Miniatures (http://www.minianimals.net/) (a miniature animal farm). I haven't been inside the actual park, but have been to the cafe where you can feed the tortises & fishies in the creek.

The Parrot Garden Cafe (http://www.parrotgarden.com.au/) is ok too - free entry to see the animals if you buy something at the cafe. It's not HUGE - lots of beautiful birds, some monkeys, llamas and rabbits and stuff - but might grab the interest of a 3 year old!

The Tumbulgum Pub is great too - beautiful location on the Tweed River & had a kids area out the back.

Is this the kind of stuff you were after??

also - we took DD down to the Macadamia Castle in Knockrow (on the Pacific Hwy just before Ballina) yesterday for her birthday and she LOVED it! The have heaps of animals & putt putt golf. It is a little bit of a drive, but from Kingscliff you could be there in less than an hour!
