View Full Version : What you do to help relief the symptoms of teething???????
Hi
I was just thinking what do people do to help bubs when they are teething?????? I read a great idea on here the other day about filling bottle teats and putting them in the frezzer, and it got me to thinking what else do people do.
I also though this would be a great way for all those like me who who are not sure what to do to comfort bubs during this painful time, and all those first timers (like me tooo) to get a list happening.
Here goes:
Bayers natural teething relief
Panadol
(the obvious ones first of course)
A good old teething ring
........................................
All suggestion welcome
Belinda
i used to make up icy poles for ds using water and sometime baby juice

Generally only bonjela on the dummy and teething rings during the day and bonjela, panadol or neurofen during the night. During the day I find the best thing is just to keep them busy and they forget about it (easier for walking/running kids obviously).

Hi there,
read your post regarding teething symptoms and I just had to reply.
I am a father of four boys (no. 5 on the way another boy I hope) they are 10,6,5,and 10 months old. We had real problems with teething symptoms with numbers 1,2, and 3, and when number 4 came along we were talking to some European friends who told us about Amber Teething Necklaces. Apparently they have been used in Europe for years to alleviate the symptoms of teething.
Well I was curious so I did the natural thing and googled it. Sure enough my search revealed that you can even buy teething necklaces at the chemist in Germany. So then I turned my attention to suppliers in Australia and found only 1 that looked professional enough at www.crownjewels.com.au (http://www.crownjewels.com.au).
Anyway, I was a bit dubious but we tried it and bingo... no red cheeks, no drooling, no runny nose and no restless sleeps - I have to say I am now a convert.
With number 4 (he now has 8 teeth at 10 months) he started teething at about 3 months and as soon as he starts pulling his ears we let him wear the necklace during his awake time and take it off when he sleeps. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. I hope this is helpful - we will be forever grateful to our friends for the tip.

I wet a washer and pop it in the freezer for a while then give it to DD to munch on... I used to also chill her dummy for her nap time... And the good old teething ring worked a treat as well..

Frozen pureed pear in the Tommee Tippee mesh feeder is great. Bit messy but my little boy loves it. Sometimes Hylands teething tablets - they seem to work pretty well. Or toast that's been wrapped in gladwrap and chilled in the fridge. (Of course the gladwrap comes off before I give it to him) The gladwrap seems to make the toast chewy rather than hard and the cold seems to help the teeth.
I've tried several teething rings and he's not interested. I'll also be looking at the amber necklace now that I've heard of it!
Wet face washer that's been in the freezer for 5-10minutes, he loves it and will chew on it for ages. Cold carrot or apple. Bonjella and nurofen if it's really bad.
In Adelaide we can buy Chlorhexidine & Lignocaine mouth paint but its only available over the counter at the Womens and Childrens Hospital its the best form of relief for teething that i have used with all my kids puls its good for adults as well.
I use bonjela and baby panadol mostly

The amber necklace sounds amazing. Just googled it and it has positive feedbacks. Thanks to magictenor for the tip. Has anyone else used it? My bubs is 7 months old, not teething yet but would love to be prepared when he does.

Ice cube in the tommee tippee mesh feeder thingy
Panadol
SM33 Gel - Pharmacist told me this is much better than bonjela.
And last but not least lots of cuddles
i use either bongela or SM33 but to e honest she is pretty good with teething doesnt really complain a whole lot about it

Bonjella does absolutely nothing for my DS but I've heard SM33 is good. Nurofen does nothing either. But camomile tea relieves the dribble rash
