I was wondering if anyone has recieved the $600 per child payment from centrelink yet. I havent but i think you have to put in your partners tax return first is that right? I dont need to put in a tax return as i havent worked and i have notified them of that

I got mine about 2.5wks ago, about 12 days after DH lodged his tax return.

You wont get paid until your DH has lodged his return.

I got excited when I read this as we could really use the money at the moment so I checked my bank account...nope hasn't been paid yet. We still haven't done tax returns tho, DH's work hasn't given him the group certificate yet!:banghead: I hate tax time!!

the 28th/7 deadline must be for those who dont have to do tax returns (or their partners) such as the unemployed or single mummies. otherwise yes you need to do partners (and your) tax first...bugger.

Suemp is right - the 31/07 deadline is only for those on benefits or who don't need to lodge a tax return (and whom have partners fitting the above)
Everyone else has to lodge their tax returns first.

I have a question though... for any of you mums who have only One child.. and you and your partner are on benefits only (not working).. how much did you get??
I just want to compare it to my rate to see whether I was paid for my son only - or also pro rata for my daughter who I have shared care of.

I got family tax A & B supplement equalling $1100.. just want to know if that is what you guys got as well.

Mum2Bug
28-07-2006, 21:19
I only got just over 950 so my guess is that you were also paid for the shared care

I am a single mum and havent got it???? But i need to lodge to a return, so will i get it after that? As DH and i are separated, so it wouldn't go on his...

Illusional

Thanks Mum2Bug.. it looks as though I have been then :)

Mummyoftwo - if you need to lodge a return it will be given to you as soon as you lodge.. I had to lodge mine before i was paid.
But it also depends on how long you have been seperated as well... a g/f of mine has been single for 50 weeks of this financial year - but she still has to wait on her ex to lodge before she is paid.

Melissa1983
28-07-2006, 21:43
We separated in Feb... so will i have to wait to he lodges his?

Illusional
28-07-2006, 21:48
Yep.. because thats within this financial year.. they will pro rata pay you based on your entitlements, taking into account how long you were together from July last year until now.. and also on what he claims on his tax re. the child (sorry didnt look to see his/her name)

For those that separated at some time in the 05/06:-Centrelink will waitfor your ex to lodge his tax return(if they haven't received the actual income for them from the ATO by mid to late Nov-FAO do a forced reconciliation based on your actual circs (either actual income as advised by ATO or non lodger as advised by yourself to FAO AND XPs last provided estimate from when you were still together) If they later receive info from ATO on Xp's actual income FAO will rebalance(re-Reco)

If you have shared care of a child with another party or a child came into your care (birth or from another party) part way through the fin year-you receive pro rata amount

The daily rate of FTB A supplement for 05/06 equated to $1.71 per day

cheers, em:)

I've got a Q that I hope someone can answer...I'm to lazy to search the website.
My DF runs his own business. As a business he dosn't have to lodge a tax return until early next year. (businesses get extentions). His accountant is pretty slack, and it definately won't get lodged until right before the due date.
So what happens?? Will we miss out on the $$ we would otherwise be entitled to?

Bensmummy try this link for Part A supplement

http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/publications/ah1097.htm

Part B supplement:-
http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/pay_how_ftbb.htm

The other thing is that Part A is paid PER child
whereas Part B is only per family

Each year the supplements are not payable until around mid July

For the single customers (or partnered who both) don't need to lodge inc tax returns this means that the bulk /auto reconciliation process doesn't start until after this time
This year the date was 17th July with this particular customer "groups" having their arrears / supplements paid spread out of a 2-3 week period. Yes in an ideal world most being paid by 31/07/2006

Single for whole year-don't even need to advise FAO of not lodging
Partnered and both on inc support payments-and not required to lodge ITRS-both need to advise FAO of non lodger status

Hope this helps clear some things up anyway:)

It doesn't mean that you will miss out, it just means that you will not receive your's until your DH lodges his tax return. The only time you would miss out is if your DH didn't lodge his 05/06 tax return until after the 30/06/08.

Hope this adequately answers your question.

I have a question, we got our tax back 2 weeks ago anf I got a letter from centrelink saying that they owed me $1700 or so and this money was included with my tax money from the ATO. Was that my $600 per child thing? Because I thought that was a separate payment that centrelink put into ur account, not the ATO.

Argh, I'm so confused.

jessgray

if you put a tax return in your tax supplemnt gets paid with your tax from my understanding.

Lil X-men
15-08-2006, 21:10
Nope, like I said I got my tax back last week and I haven't got my supplement back yet, I am checking my acc everyday, man they take ages.
Starlet, I'm not sure but I think it is seperate so you will probably still receive that $600 (dont trust me though I am just assuming, it is soo damn confusing), whenever the hell they decide to give it to us!!
My friend submitted hers and her DH's tax at the same time as us and she still doesnt have her Supplement back either so goodness knows how long it will take!!!

Hi Alicia,

Your child was born in the 04/05 tax year and as long as you were eligible for FTB Part A you would be entitled to the pro rata of the FTB supplement for that year (so from Date of childs birth to the 30/06/2005.)

The 05/06 financial year ran from 01/07/2005-30/06/2006 and once again dependant on your combined income will determine if your eligible. Please contact the FAO 13 6150 to check this out for yourself. There is also a FTB B supplement that may be payable (based on the secondary earners income_whoever earns the least in your relationship)

cheers, em

From what i was told from centerlink today, when you put your tax return in the tax dept cross match your details with centerlink and when you get your return it will have any money that you have been underpaid will be included. eg FTB.

this does not include your 600 per child, that should follow approx 2 weeks later...

oh and by the way its about 630 this year too and some families are entitiled to a 300 dollar payment on top as well. :smiliedance: (im not too sure on the criteria to get this)

Hope that helps:fingerscrossed: ... im still waiting on mine

Just FYI to all:-

The process of Centrelink/FAO reconciliation goes like this:-
If you need to lodge a tax return:-
ATO process your tax return->send to FAO->FAO calculate arrears or overpayment inclusive of the supplements->send details back to ATO for inclusion on Tax notice of assessment.

If ATO have already issued your tax notice of assessment / return to you, the ATO return FAO arrears to FAO for them to deposit into your listed bank account with Centrelink.

The back wards and forwards of data between ATO and Centrelink is call "the washup process" and often takes as much as 10 days. This is on top of what ever time the ATO "process / calculate your tax notice of assessment....
So all of this needs to occur before you will see any of your supplements (if no overpayments)

Hopefully yours won't be too far off:smiliedance:
