View Full Version : Can unmixed formula give wind or constipated?
Hey all
Just wondering if anyone knows if when making up formula if it is not mixed completely whether it can give baby wind or make them constipated?
Dunno about that but formula full stop can give wind and constipation. DS was fairly constipated until he was weaned.......and he was colicky as a young bub.

not sure about the wind thing but if you put too much formula into the water then i would imagine that would make it too heavy and therefore hard to digest (and also dangerous). i think formula fed bubs are more windy and have a tendency towards constipation anyway (mine was more after i had to stop bf)

How would the bub get the formula when it isn't mixed properly? I mean, it wouldn't be given to him or her unmixed and wouldn't it just block up the teat and not get through anyway?
I don't imagine that it would be easy to digest.

Not sure but before i scoop out the amount i run the knife through the formula first so it's not so compacted and it's loose formula IYKWIM and when i'm scooping the formula i dont compact the scoop. I hope that makes sense.
What i mean by unmixed is the water and formula quantities are correct but when shaking not all formula is mixed there are tiny little lumps on inside of bottle. When DH makes up formula he gives it about 2 shakes and thats it. Maybe coincidence but those times DD has been grunting more than usual. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experience?
