Is it just me, or is the fashion industry failing us? I've managed to buy a few cute tops for breastfeeding, however, most nursingwear is matronly and soooooo obvious! I'm desperate for a funky label that sells not so obvious feeding tops.... Since buying a couple of Boob and Mamalicious tops I don't want to go back to the bad old days of hiking my top way up and have a cold tummy, but by the same token, I want something NOICE! Does anyone else buy feeding tops?

Nah, I just hoike up my t-shirt  I usually wear a cardi or jacket over my top so that keeps my midriff kinda warm. But all in all, I'm not one for discretion in these matters

wearing a boob-toob under your top can help with the cold belly thing (also flabby belly when bubs is young) also converting your normal clothes, Spotlight sell clasps that you can attach to your top (so cut the strap close to the boob and then attach the clip) viola! intanst BF top...of course not practical for all clothes. Singlets work well, just buy cheap ones from Supre etc.
i know what you mean though about some funky clothes, i am pregnant with #2 and searching for nice maternity/feeding wear. It is epic! just to find nice clothes that go with your style and that aren't too $$$$

I'm not afraid of getting my boobies out in public ;) it's just the lovely muffin top belly I like to hide  especially with jeans, and my DS likes to play with my top while he feeds!
My fave bf top is from Harriet Bear.
I also have a Boob top I like though its a little short for me.
I have other tops like a fresh mums top and a corsierre top which aren't the most practical.
I know what you mean about not showing the belly area.
I rather ppl see my boobs than my belly, I think!!!!:o
personally i think that the glamourmom bf tops look the best. they undo from the top rather then unclip from underneath so you don't have that line just under your boobs.

have a look at
www.nursingwear.com.au
i just bought some stuff off there, its not all great, but some good tops....never cheap though!
I got my nirsing tops from www.queenbee.com.au. There is a Bub hub code you can use to get 5% off. They are either ones that you pull the top layer aside or there are 2 top layers and you lift the front one up. They are very prompt, mine arrive within 3-4 days of ordering and postage is free (but you have to pay a charge to return).
I like them because they don't look like nursing tops (ie no layer across the middle). I tried on the GlamourMum and FreshMum tops but they were so long and I didn't like all the clips to undo on the Fresh Mums one.

i love my fresh mum tops and i couldn't have lived without them. the length was teh best part and the snaps are so easy to undo. i liked the fact that i could get short and long sleeved tops that looked nice and not like a maternity top. it covered my baby bump well and really hid that muffin top look too. i had a glamour mom one and i wasn't all that pleased with it but it is good for summer. they are a bit pricey but i don't have to wear a bra with mine so i saved some money there. the nightshrits are great too for feeding bubs during the night. they keep those breast pads in place too.

I wear a singlet under my t-shirt that i can pull down, keeping my back etc warm. Then I dont feel self conscious pulling up my shirt to bf.

I have found the Glamourmum tops are the BEST. I wear them instead of a maternity bra under all my clothes, so it's like wearing a bonds singlet top underneath. Then I just wear something that buttons up or is low cut that allows easy access. That way my tummy stays warm and hidden and feeding in public is much easier if you only have to take the strap down instead of hiking your top up.
I definitely reccommend them, you get so much wear out of them that they're worth the money and you can but them cheaper on ebay so check out that option.

I wore my glamourmum tops under everything in winter - I got one black & one pink, so it went with heaps in my wardrobe.
The main reason I used them was to stay warm & to hide the flabby belly!! DD was tiny, so she didn't hide much of my belly until she was about 6months!
The boob tube idea is also a great cheap alternative. If you get the longer ones, you can mix & match with heaps in your normal wardrobe & get the 'layered' look!

I've been an on again, off again shirt hoister for nine years... Something has just snapped :o It could be the fact it's so bitterly cold in Melbourne right now, summer breastfeeding seems much less fuss, less layers to hoist!
Thanx to the Mamas who've posted links for me :)

oh yeh I forgot, I've got a glamour mom, love it, but they're so pricey... I need 4 or 5 of them!
i have one that opens with snaps under the bust and it's okay, but doesn't really open big enough to fit my boozies out comfortably, still works though at concealing the tummy....i also go the layers, singlet or boob tube under other shirt.

Hi Keara
I know a shop that sells tops that would be perfect for breastfeeding - I bought a couple from there when I was bf & expressing for DS2. Many of his tops have a crossover front (tshirts and jumpers) which were great for accessing the dairy!
I see you're in Melbourne. The shop is a small clothes shop in Burke Road Balwyn in the same shopping strip as Baby Bunting (across the road and close to the Harp Rd intersection) and the brand they sell is Peter Andrews (not sure of the shop's name though). They are having a sale at the moment I think so worth a look. The tops are all a good length too so you don't get cold kidneys and they come in a vast array of colours and patterns. I bought a pink crossover front lightweight jumper for about $25 earlier this year.
good luck:fingerscrossed:
cheers

Hi Keara
how did you go with breastfeeding tops?
i walked past Kluckee on Burke Road in Balwyn (near babybunting) and they are selling a b/f range now - I didn't go in but it may be worth a look.
the other shop is called Autumn and is directly opposite Kluckee.
good luck

I have just found some that are great prices at
http://www.mummymatters.co.nz.
And just for the record - I'm not too worried about people seeing my boobies, after all I don't normally have ANY for anyone to see!
:p
Hi,
Does anyone know what happens with import duty when you order from NZ? Do they just send you a bill or something? Is it just 10%?
Just wondered as that NZ site looks good!!
