View Full Version : Which is the best PHI for Maternity - WA
Hello All,
New to this forum and first post.
I am doing some research and am finding it hard to find which PHI is the best in WA for maternity.
I am thinking of going to SJOG Murdoch.
Would like to know others experiences with their PHI Fund and what I should be asking the health funds in order to know that they are going to cover me as much as possible.
Thank You :)
Hi,
I am with MBF, find their cover really good and my Mum is with them and used that hospital (i think) when having surgery last year.
I have found their service advice and staff very helpful anytime I have delt with them.
We have just moved to Vic and now pay HEAPS more for our monthly premium ($60 more than did in WA) but to me is worth it because the service is value for money.
Was with HCF over there too and had NO problems with them either only changed to MBF because we knew we would be moving here and it was good policy for our current needs.

PS. MIL and FIL are with Medibank Private and their service was $h*t. MIL went to hospital and it was first time I'd ever made a claim to a PHI company so rang them and asked what to do what forms to use etc. did EXACTLY as they told us only to have claims returned unpaid because they were worng rang them redid new forms they told us only to have returned unpaid again, their staff gave us incorrect information EVERY time and in the end found that the first forms were right their staff didn't process them properly :banghead:. took nearly 4 months to sort it out.
We posted the claim to them and rang them 4 weeks later to see they got it they had no idea if they had it and told us to wait another month and see if they have got it as they are usually behind in their processing and have no way to trace mail that is received until AFTER they process it and even then sometimes it won't show on their system straight away they have processed it... not very good at all.
hi
we are have been with medibank private for about 3 years and i have no problems with them.
we gave birth to ds and sjog murdoch and the only thing we had to pay for was my excess and dp to stay, which we claimed back from our bonus money.
we also had to pay for ds to see the peadatrician as he was not classed as an in-patient as he wasn't in the nursery (we claimed this part back from medicare)
we have also had no problems claiming anything else like dental, physio etc.

Hi Amiee,
Which OB did you see at murdouch?
Nat278 & Amiee:
I called Medibank a while back and the lady seemed really nice and helpful, but I have a feeling they are really sales driven, as I knew she was going to push for a sign up - lucky the power went out and the phone cut.
:)
im with HBF and have had both babies at sjog subiaco.
i have smart saver twin pack, its a family cover and is $30 a week (direct cebited fortnightly)
i havent had a problem with it and have had a few operations since aand have not been out of pocket. the only disadvantage is it doesnt cover a few major things but we dont need them anyways (joint replacement, orthodontics) etc
We were with Manchester Unity (now HCF) when I had DS at Murdoch last year. I had no out of pocket expenses except for one box of medication. I just kept receiving letters in the mail to tell me they had paid this Dr and that Dr amounts of money for their services!
We had a few issues when they were merging in trying to get answers about our cover (as the merge was to occur just as baby was due) - but we got the answers we wanted finall. Have had no other issues whatsoever.
good luck!
Thanks Gals,
Just one question - Did your PHI cover the OB, etc as well?
