Hi everyone

I'm currently researching a book on breastfeeding and am looking fro write ups from mums who have breastfed premature babies - whether or not they continued with it. If you would like more information about the book or the types of stories I am looking for, please email me on Pink.Ink077@gmail.com and I'll be happy to send you more information.

Thanks
Rach!

I gave birth to twin boys by emergency c-section 7 weeks premmie. I could not breastfeed for the first 4 days as they had to be tube fed but I expressed milk for the nurses to feed them. My boys are now 5 months old and I am still breastfeeding. It does have its restrictions because I feed them at the same time so that I am not feeding all day so going out was hard at first until I learnt to express milk to feed them bottles. I also cannot take them to bed to feed as I need to sit up to twin feed. All in all though I am so glad I breastfed because they tripled their birth weight in 3 months. (They were a healthy 5 pound 4 ounces born mind you).

I had my daughter 10 weeks early. She was not up for breastfeeding until she was nearly ready to come home after 8 weeks in hospital. My breast were no producing enough breastmilk for her so I had to give up and put her on formular.

Hi there

I had my son 5 weeks prem, preeclampsia. I could not feed him for the first 4 days he was tube fed, but during this time the midwives assisted me in expressing. The fifth day i was making enough he was having "mummy milk" as we called it through his tube and topped up woth formula. The sixth day i went home and he was still in the neonatal unit. My husband would drop me off at the unit at 7am. I would breast feed him every four hours until 11 pm at night. I would then wake up every 4 hours express and be back at the hospital the next morning for the 7 am feed again. by the 10th day i was making that much milk we had it left over!
On the 11th day we took him home, three weeks before his birth date.

I believe it was because i worked so hard and wanted to feed so much it worked so well. My preg was a disaster. If it could go wrong it did. The only thing that worked was the breast feeding. I went back to work full time when he was 8 weeks old. Yes early i know but i work in child care and i had him with me 24 hours. My employers said feed when you want, do what you need to we support you, just what you need from your boss.

I fed him until he was 13 months old ( little monkey refused a bottle!).

I am now pregnant with my second. Again preeclampsia, bless this body of mine!
And again i am already making milk and are getting ready to express as we know he will be coming around 5 weeks early again!

But hey got to love those cuddles and smiles, makes it all worth while!

Cheers
AFG
