I was wanting to hear people's reasons for choosing one type of nappy over the other... i'd love to hear especially from those who have chosen fitted over AIO's.

For a young baby I find the fitted provide a beter coverage against exploding poos. With AIOs on DS2 as a newborn I just got wayyyyyy too many wee leaks.
Currently using fitteds and flats with my ds2 as he has had bad nappy rash for ages and I think when in pockets or AIOs he had been in them too long before we changed him, so putting him in fitteds/flats with no covers during the day allowed us to be conscious of changing him as soon as wet. I found bamboo fitteds great as I was concerned with the synthetic inners in AIOs making his rash worse.
The fitteds also seem to last longer and no leaks.
I have never used an AIO overnight so I used fitteds there as well.
I use a mix of fitteds, AI2's and pockets. I don't use covers on my fitteds - I change as soon as she is wet so they never leak. I even use a fitted night nappy without a cover.
Fitteds are good in the summer because they don't have the waterproof layer which can prevent air-flow - so they breathe and are cooler.
On my newborn, I used a mixture of small fitteds (with covers on a young baby) and Bumgenius one size pockets. I found Ai2's too bulky when she was little and hard to get a good fit.
