the new RPA private wing

hi,
can anyone tell me what the new RPA private hospital is like? did you like it?what did you like/dislike about it? what are the midwives like during labour? what are the staff like in the post natal ward?

I have not given birth at RPA but am considering it as an option for my first baby due September. RPA is a completely public hospital, there is no private section, however, they do have a maternity ward on level 8 that has only single rooms I believe. You can call the hospital and arrange a tour of maternity to get a better idea of what its like. During my tour, we only saw level 5 though where the other maternity ward is. However you could just go during visiting hours and have a walk around.

I had a similar problem with the head midwife. She Stuck the bed rails up on my bed at 3.00am and stormed out of the room leaving all the lights on. I had the baby in the bed with me and a catheter in and had to climb over te bed rails to get out of the bed. The staff did not have enough time to help with feeding properly but not their fault. They were very nice. I was in the private ward on level 8 (that's what they call it). The food is awful but you can order takeaway. You need to ask for the menu as they don't volunteer any information. I have had both my children there privately but only because it is close to home. I wouldn't go thereof there was a private hospital closer but I guessing most private patients would feel the same way.

I found Level 8 at RPA to be fantastic. I have been in both wards (level 5 and 8) and level 8 is so much better on every aspect. I had an emergency C section and Elective one

They were there to help out from the moment you arrived to when you left. The staff were really friendly, helpful and very supportive.

When you buzzed them, someone was there within 10 minutes. I was waiting over 1 hour on level 5.

Yes I have to agree that the food is crap and you will get the same food on both levels, however I took my own or ordered takeaway.
