I am thinking about trying Chiro for my 8 month old DS Ethan and was wondering...

who has used a Chiro on their bubs?

for what reason?

and was it successful?

Thanks ladies :D

 I have!!
She was a really big baby, so she was really cramped in there & her foot was turned in a little so we took her a couple of times & watched what he did & then DH did it for a few more weeks & it was all fixed

I had my bub adjusted when he was about 4 months old. My aunty is a Chiro/Naturapath/+ just about every other alternative medicine you can think of!
He had alot of trouble getting rid of his wind and it really helped him get rid of it by aligning his digestive system.

We went back again when he was 7 months just for a quick adjustment.. we were involved in a minor car accident and I wanted to make sure his neck was ok, cause mine was quite stiff and sore... apparantly it was out quite a bit and he couldn't turn his head around to the left! So very glad he is now a-ok

If you are considering taking your bub, I would recommend you go to someone you trust or who specialises in babies... just to be safe!

Thats OK :)
She was 3mths & she was fine he was very gentle(& very good looking ;) I like to think that helped a little  ) she just lied there in total bliss.
I think if she had of been a bit older she may have wanted to move a bit but maybe look around for one that is really good with babies, the guy we had talked to DD the whole time & gave off a real warm vibe & he was quite young so I was impressed.

Its very gentle, not like when they crunch us.

I will be taking my baby soon after he is born, just for a check up to nip any problems in the bud.

My osteo clinic has a paedriatric osteo. Its not my usual one, its another one.

i took ds a week out of the womb. his neck was a bit stuck ( always turning to one side) after a long birth. so we wanted him looked at straightaway. but would have taken him for a check even if there were no obvious problems.

he was looked at every week for a few weeks, then monthly. now he will just have occasional checkups. unless he gets sick and needs some extra help.

we actually just went today. as i have been really sick and i wanted to make sure ds doesn't. chiro has been great. his neck is sorted, he is healthy, and he doesn't scream when he goes anymore:laughing:

My bubs went to chiro at 3 months as she had torticollis ( basically a wry neck, so she favoured one side). Her chiro was great...I'm going to take her back again for a check up soon.

I took mine for reflux and he showed me how to get rid of it at home myself by rubbing her just under the ribcage in the middle of the chest really really lightly and gently. It worked and i do it half way between a bottle and after the whole bottle and she no longer is up all night with reflux doing our heads in.:)

I took DD to a paediatric chiro when she was about 3 months old because she had a plagiocephaly (?sp - its said Play-gio-Kefaly), which is essentially a flat spot on her head. It was happening because she always turned her head to the left side when she slept.

Turned out she had a birth injury to the muscles in her neck that was causing her pain when she tried to turn her head the other way. The chiro saw her once to do the adjusment - was very gentle, didn't bother DD at all - the actual examination to find the problem was more a difficulty for her!- and then saw her another couple of times to review her and check her progress. The outcome was that she no longer has the plagiocephaly, despite it being pretty severe at the time. As I've heard of lots of other mothers getting their kids cranial remoulding helmets for months and months at a time, I'm glad I took DD to the chiro instead!

MAtilda is going now been going since 2 weeks...she was big bub, posterior and ended up coming out c section and failed forceps - all in all she was a bit misaligned and causing her to be unsettled, uncomfy and windy/reflux...goign really well...she now on weekly visits rather than twice a week...and I going to start going too...amazing what my spine and neck looks like on xray - never realised all those little falls...bad posture...and evrything really could muller your spine so much...really interesting how getting the movement back and having good health relieves all those other probs like headaches, digestive probs etc...very clever!!
I trust him completely with her...so gentle and she loves it...goes all gaga when there and sleeps really well afterwards...highly recommend!!:smiliedance:

I have DS booked in for next week... his birth was pretty quick so I'm just making sure everything is aligned nicely. Particularly one of his feet has a toe that sits under the others rather than lining up with them, so I'll be checking his tendons don't need a bit of release in that toe. I don't use a chiro though... my guy is more of an osteo.

Like Faery and Maddysmumma, I took DD to an osteo because she continually turned her head to the left.

I specifically said I didn't want any "crunching" and all she did was some massage, some alignment with this gun thing (she used it on my first and it was painless), a little stretching etc.

DD is great now, she doesn't favour that side anymore and her tummy time skills have improved greatly.

The little gun thing is called an activator. Its a great tool and many chiropractor will use this on a baby. Occasionally the click noise will startle them a little but babies sleep through having this done. The discomfort the feel from having the tight muscles massaged is like pressing lightly on a bruise.

Kids adapt so well to Chiro and Osteo, it is something they used to and innately ask for after a while as they know it makes a difference.

Glad to see people are thinking outside the medical model of muscle relaxants and drugs!!

Hooray for removing interference to the innate potential of the amazing human body!

I took my DS2 when he was about 6 weeks to see a chiro for feeding and latching on issues. Made a world of difference and he absolutely loved it. It used to look like he was squirming in pleasure!.
