Lets get these disgusting t-shirts off our shelves.
This was the email I wrote to the Minister of Women:
To the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP,
I am writing to you as you are the Minister for the status of women and I'm not sure who to direct this complaint to, but I figured you would.
I am writing to express my absolute disgust and outrage at the "Blood is the new Black' range of clothing that the clothing company Roger David has on sale throughout Australia.
The t-shirts which feature women in chain gags, semi-naked, bound and blindfolded are an absolute disgrace to the kinds of messages we are trying to send about the rights of women.
In a country where legislation is in place to protect women from sexual violence, these t-shirts not only promote and glorify sexual violence against women, but mock survivors of sexual violence.
As a mother of four sons I am horrified that my child might have to see these images displayed on clothing in public places. These images send negative messages to children about women and relationships before they have the chance to establish the foundations of healthy gender identities.
Pornographic magazines must be shielded from the view of children, how then are these violently pornographic t-shirts able to be worn as 'fashion'? There has been breakthroughs in the area of child pornography being classified as 'art', I am hoping that you can take on this cause and we will see these sexually violent t-shirts removed from sale in Australia.
I am urging you as the Minister of the Status of Women to be outraged by the heinous message this is promoting.
Please advise me on the correct Ministers and bodies to contact. I and thousands of other Australian women are not willing to rest on this matter until women are once again protected from the promotion of blatantly degrading, dehumanising and objectifying clothing.
ustralia is supposed to be about equality, women are supposed to be protected from sexual violence. Please don't let fashion be used as an excuse for violent pornography.
Eagerly waiting your response.
Sincerely,
Gretel D*****.

OMG this is revolting :gloomy:
I'm not resting on this...
It's a blatant human rights issue.
The T-shirts are nothing but sadistic pornography being marketed as fashion.
If the people of Spain can get rid of the same messages in a Dolce Cabana advertisment, then we can too.
Why should my children.. my FOUR SONS.. be exposed to violent pornography, when they don't even have a developed gender idenitity... just because some bloody moron wears a sexually violent and pornographic t-shirt in a public place.
How am I supposed to explain those images to my children???????????????
Women bound, gagged, naked and blindfolded is not a depiction of kinky sex... it's a depiction of rape. especially being marketed under the heading 'blood is the new black'..
I'm outraged.

It's absolutely disgusting and I hope many people get onto them about this. Thank you for bringing it to the attention of all of us on BH as well as FB. The message needs to be loud and it needs to get through and it needs to get these shirts off shelves and off backs.
Nah.. I just jumped on the bandwagon.
I'm just hoping that a few extra contacts will help get the message across faster that we, the women of Australia, will not tolerate this kind of thing.

WOW those TShirts surely are Offensive!
I completely agree with you OJ I am glad there is an up roar about these shirts.
As a sexual abuse survivor and mother of a baby girl I ALSO don't think it's fair to "NORMALISE" children to images such as these.
I just don't understand HOW these shirts were allowed to be put on sale... Is there NO women at all working at Roger David? How could any self respecting mother allow such images to appear on TShirts etc.......
:no::(:thumbsdown:
