Ear infection?

What are the signs of an ear infection in an infant?

My older kids never had them as babies - my girl had one last year (she is 6)
My baby has been very cranky and seems irritated.
It occurred to me it could be his ear as he cocks his head to the side.
He is teething too so not sure if it might just be that.

He may have a temp and generally will tug on his ear.
And yes, the grizzliness is a standard with it.
Depending on how bad it is, when u look into his ear, you'll be able to see some redness.

I hope it's not an ear infection and just teething.

DD had 7 ear infections before the age of 2 and not once did she pull at her ear. One time I didn't even know until her ear drum burst and the gunk drained out.

If he is off his food, not drinking as much, has a temp and wont leave your side, I'd say he probably does have an ear infection. It couldn't hurt to run him in to the hospital tonight, or a GP tomorrow. Give him panadol and Nurofen until them to help him sleep.
