hey my ds is 4 and just had his 4yr old jabs on tuesday.
this morning his left arm is swollen and red and itchy at the injection site.
when i say swollen, it is twice the size of his right arm!!!
should i be worried? it was the IPV vaccination (polio) one.
he doesnt have any other symptoms or unwellness, he is still his cheeky self
thanks heaps for any advice!
I would give your Dr a call and ask if the want to see him. I image the will.

Some redness and swelling is normal, but twice the size of his other arm... you should take him to the doctors. It might not be much but better safe than sorry. Its a good sign that he is his usual self though.
Good Luck

thanks ladies,
i took him straight to the gp, turns out it is a very rare reaction, so the doc prescribed some antihistamines (phenergan) to give him, plus cold ice packs for 20 mins every 2 hours.
he says its no longer hurting, but its still very red and swollen..it looks like hes been pumping weights with only his left arm hehe
anyways, just wanted to update and say thankyou! :)

Make sure your gp filled out a vaccine reaction report. They are often pressured not to or are too busy to worry but the only way the proper stats are going to get out there is if the paperwork is done.
Hope he feels better soon :hugs:
