I remember when I was researching vaxing about 3 years ago, I really wanted to be able to view exact numbers of disease incidence year by year in the different states, along with the outcomes, ie/ hospitalisations, deaths etc and whether the patient was vaxed or not.

The only info like this I came across was American, not very helpful.

Is anyone aware of where you can get info like this about the diseases kids get vaccinated against?

Surely there must be some 'body' to whom info like this is reported? :detective:

Usually your doctor or CHN can give you some stats for your area otherwise if your more specific in what it is your after i can see whether i can find out through my mum & her network where you can find it.

There are actually stats listed in the immunisation booklet released by the govt (though only for some diseases, not all). However, I guess the info in that booklet may not be considered neutral. Let me know if you find some stats, I'd be curious to take a peek as well!

This is the latest data I could find:

Vaccine preventable deaths

The health of infants is affected by periodic epidemics of diseases that are preventable by vaccination (see Explanatory Notes, paragraph 20) [I couldn't find this paragraph]. However, deaths from vaccine preventable causes make up a relatively small proportion of infant deaths. Between 1982 and 1996 there were a total of 56 deaths from diseases covered in the National Immunisation Strategy: 5 deaths were from measles, 14 from whooping cough, 1 from rubella and 36 from haemophilias influenza type B (HiB). These vaccine preventable deaths accounted for less than 1% of all postneonatal deaths reported during the 15-year period.

The number of infant deaths attributed to vaccine preventable cases was negligible (58) despite reported epidemics in the survey period. 4398.0 - Causes of Infant and Child Deaths, Australia, 1982 to 1996

So, let me see, IF those figures are correct, that means that in Australia, during the 14 year period stated, on average

.357 infants every year died from measles
1 infant every year died from whooping cough
.071 infants every year died from ruebella
2.571 infants died every year from influenza type B

And if your child was unfortunate enough to die, there was a more than 99% chance that the cause was from something OTHER than a vaccine preventable disease!

if you're going to use these statistics to substantiate the non vax debate

No, not at all, I'm just glad to see some concrete figures out there for people to look into when they research the decision.
I'm rather amazed how low the figures are, for some reason I expected them to be higher, I guess the herd immunity is working like a charm.
