Hi all
I am 13 weeks preganant and my 12 week probation at my new job expired last week -there has not been any official paperwork to confirm my permanent position but yet again no paperwork to state otherwise....The manager will not be too happy  when he finds out - he is away on a/leave until next week...

Any advice on how to approach him with the "happy news", and is anyone aware of the rights I have as I will not be with the company for the required 12 month period...
Any directios and ideas will be very appreciated:thumbsup:

Will you not have been with them 12 months when the baby arrives?

From Jan 1 the rules changes nationally in regards to this area...

However you may find it is at the employers discretion what occurs if you give birth prior to the 12 months. My advice if its close is to hang on tight to your annual leave use that first and see if that will take you over the 12 month line. Some places can use their annual leave at half pay or apply for leave without pay (which I would apply for before notifying them of the pregnancy) and then take the 12 months from the 1 year anniversary.

I would be waiting until I have paper in my hand before making it public and personally would just allow them to think I was putting weight on lol

Good luck

I'm showing already and it's hard to cover up the "bump" - i definately look pregnant, so I do not have an option but to own up!
If i go on maternity in June (the usual 3-4 weeks before birth) I would have been with the company for 8 months!!!! I literaly fell pregnant the day I started the new job

Perhaps... however there is no legal requirement for you to own up currently (unless yours or the babies health could be at risk due to your work) and until you have passed probation they are able to cancel your employment without giving a reason.

Your not eligible for maternity leave so when you go you are not guaranteed to get your job back.

I wouldn't tell your boss your pregnant until after probation though so at least you have a job until you leave to have the baby.
