Schedule or Wait it Out?

I have always fed my 18mo on demand, but now I want to restrict his feeds to certain times of the day. Has anyone ever done this?? How did it work for you?

My DS1 is a milk-o-holic and is at the breast upwards of six times a day for extended periods of time. DS2 is only nearly three weeks old and DS1 is adjusting to the new addition. Milk is probably our only adjustment problem, and any 'no', 'wait', or interference at the breast sets DS1 into a tantrum.:(

I don't want to restrict DS1 at the breast, but a) I can't get anything done because I spend my entire day nursing and b) DS1 can't just get his way all the time by having a tantrum.

Will he grow out of it?:confused: I'm so torn!

At 19mths I only fed my DD to sleep, so two times a day then when she woke at night, as I was trying to wean her. She was off at 22mths. She did have tanties for the first week or so but I found distracting her with something else when she wanted it worked for us
