Hi,

I have a 3 year old and a 7 week old. My husband is just going back to work after having the first 7 weeks off to help me which has been moumental in my recovery from the caesarean and just his general assistance. It's his first day back tomorrow and I'm feeling very anxious about how I'm going to cope with lack of sleep and being able to function for my 3 year old. My 7 week old has been sleeping too well in the day and was fussing all night for weeks now and driving me bonkers.
I woke her every 3-4 hours yesterday and took her shopping in the afternoon and she slept, for the first time, from 7pm till midnight then 1am till 430am. This is a very positive step I know but still feeling a bit sorry for myself! Also my 3 year old who has slept like a champion since he was a few months old has started sleeping irratically. Is this because there's a newborn in the house and all our sleeping has been dissrupted?

I'm just needing some positive reassurance.

WHEN did your baby sleep though for the first time?

coop was about 3mths before he slept through but then that got disrupted. at the age of 2 he started to sleep through again but there will be a huge lot of disruptions due to our circumstances. its natural for them to go through many different sleep patterns.

Sorry hun, 14 months and counting.

I'm sure yours will do better!

Judging from my mothers group, the average baby was waking once for an early feed 10-11pm and then sleeping through till 5-6am from about 6months onwards.

It could be ANYTHING though. According to my mum, I slept through the night completely from 3 months and my brother was still waking at night to be resettled at 4 years.

So also, it doesn't matter what you do, they're gonna do what they're gonna do

Wow really? Actually might just count my lucky starts cause my first bubba slept through from a few months. I remember he started waking in the night at 6 months cause of teething but my hubby used to go into his room and settle him back instantly. He stopped waking in the night again within a few weeks.
He has slept 12 hours a night without waking since.
He's been getting up a coupla times a night now and then since this baby came along but again hubby has him settled back in bed within 2 minutes.
I hope this baby, my second, is as good a sleeper!
