My girl cluster feeds at night!! Its driving me a bit insane. I just want to know that Im not the only one that does this!!

My 15 week old girl has her bath at 6pm and after that a bit of tummy time then a feed on one side. maybe half hour to an hour later I offer her another feed. This seems to drag out till about 8 or 8.30!!

During the day we have a feed play sleep routine which works fantastic for us! After her waking after naps during the day she has a feed, plays for about an hour and a half then I put her in the cot and she self settles.

The issue I have is the night cluster feed. Should it take about 3-4 feeds to finally get her to sleep??? She only wakes once a night for a feed during the night and quite often 'sleeps through'. Tonight I was so frustrated and wondered to myself, why am I doing this?? and thinking bottle fed mothers must have it so easy. I dont know why I thought this. I even questioned my supply but Im pretty sure I dont have issues there. I dont think the foods affect her that I eat.

Should I not be complaining and just consider myself lucky that she only wakes once or doesnt wake during the night? There must be others out there that feed multiple times before their baby finally goes to sleep!!!

I just lie on the couch with my baby and feed her for a good hour or so until she is really sound and she sleeps through the night. When I have skipped this she has woken after a few hours. So I think it's worth it! Can yo just organise the feed to be a relax time for you?

cluster feeding is NORMAL bf behaviour :)

think of it as her way to fill up on the rich fatty hindmilk
for nice long night of sleep (one wakeup at 15 weeks is pretty good!)

As others have said .. it's normal.

My DS cluster fed (usually wanting to feed while I was trying to cook dinner ... lol) and would then sleep through (with a dreamfeed just before I went to bed) till around 7am.

Thanks ladies :)

We did have a good night my girl cluster fed as usual (we even did this with my previous child) anyways she slept from 8.30am through to 6.30 this morning and just went to sleep again at 8am :)

It has to be all worth it! Just that I feel so drained, like my boobs just feel so empty after all the feeds but I guess it must mean that I will produce more again which usually happens. It can be a lot of hard work maybe I need to correct my back posture. I bet thats what it is as I tend to hunch on a big sofa in her room. Ill have to work on it. I do enjoy it as a relax time though. I wish I could do it for an hour she has a bit of one side....then sort of latches on and off. then I burp her check her nappy and offer her other. I tend to walk into other rooms of the house and then wait till she gets even more tired. Maybe I should stay in the same dark room and avoid loud noise and voices in the house. I used to rock her ages ago but was kind of relieved I didnt have to do that any more. Cluster feeding seems to be working well though.
