DS2 has colic and we were using brauer's colic relief but everytime we gave it to him he would power spew everywhere. So we are now using infacol. Now when we give it to him, at the start of each feed, he will burp for us but not as good as what he used to. He is much much more settled though. I am wondering if anyone else uses it and if they are experiencing the same thing. I can't complain as he is now sleeping heaps better and is not crying all the time.

I found that plain old Gripe water worked for our son, but we also had to change his formula over.

Good luck with finding something that works!

I agree withb Damien's Mum.

We too tried gripe water and infacol (we found infacol to be the best) we were giving it to DS at every feed. It DEFINATELY helped him to settle and sleep better. I am in agreeance with you there.

I changed formula (changed to heinz- cheaper and apparently it's good too) and slowly decreased the infacol till we got to giving him nothing and he's been fine ever since.

He still has major wind (out the bottom  - he can compete with his father!), but he seems to be ok about it now. He is much easier to feed, because he doesn't have wind pain and he sleeps better because he doesn't have wind pain.

Hope this helps.

What formula did you change to? We are currently using karicare

We used Karicare too...we tried pretty much all their range, but DS seemed to have wind for all of them.

I have changed to Heinz formula...it's cheaper too! I've heard that it's a little gentler on their digestive system.

If you do change formulas make sure you do it slowly. One bottle of the new formula a day for a few days. Then gradually increase the bottles till you have changed all the bottles to the new formula. Then give it 2 weeks. This allows the body to get rid of any old formula from the body.

Also, keep up with infacol until you've got all feeds as the new formula. Then slowly decrease the infacol (the same way you decreased his old formula) until you don't give it anymore. If he has disturbed sleep again then the formula still isn't right. Put him back on infacol and try another formula.

I've heard that NAN is a good formula. Also, maybe you could try Karicare HA- for sensitive bubbies.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, Nan HA or hypoallergenic is the easiest to digest. Our bub had to go on a prescription formula because he reacted even to Nan but I know the hospitals always use Nan HA and most babies are fine on it.
