I recently bought the Ergo Baby Carrier, because my 8 months old daughter does not feel confortable in the Baby Bjorn any more. I saw the Ergo Baby Carrier first, when I travelled overseas and a woman on my flight had her 8 months old boy in it and I immediately wanted to have this carrier (looks like a backpack and the baby loves to sit in it and looks soooo comfortable).

So I went and bought the Ergo Baby Carrier, but did not try it out in the shop (what would you try?) Well, I really find it hard to get my daughter in that thing! I can manage in front of the mirrow, but I need at least 4 - 5 trials until she is in there.

I was just wondering if there is anybody out there who has the same problem or is it just me that finds it very difficult? Is there a special trick???? Please let me know!!! Because once the Baby is in the carrier, it is fantastic, I really love it and she does too. But getting there is a mission.

I know there is a website which even has a video, how to put that thing on, but I would just like to know if other people find it difficult too.

Thanks:)

I find the ergo very easy. I only ever use it in a back carry but here's how I get it on.
1. Strap ergo waist strap to me, so that Ergo is hanging down the front of my body.
2. Grab DD and place her legs around my waist, so we're looking at each other.
3. Pick up Ergo carrier and hold against her back.
4. Take DD (and ergo) underneath left arm, and grab right shoulder strap and place over shoulder. The waist strap is loose enough for it to move around easy. My left hand is supporting DD's butt.
5. Place right hand under DD's butt and put left strap over left shoulder.
6. Clip chest strap together and tighten.
7. Tighten waist strap.
8. Tighten shoulder straps.

It took me a couple of goes to get used to putting DD2 on my back but now we are away like pros. I do something similar to mumtoone but I put DD2 on my hip, so my routine is:

1. Do up waist strap with pouch on hip
2. Sit DD on hip with pouch up over her back
3. slide her and pouch around and put arm through strap on furthest side, then arm in strap on closest side
4. Tighten waist
5. Do up chest strap
6. Tighten arms straps

Good to go. I use my non-strap arm to hold DD and when she was smaller would lean forward slightly to keep her on my back while Iwas putting the straps on. A good tip is to loosen off the straps each time you take it off so that they are loose and easy to get on the next time.

Hope you find it gets easier as I love mine!

Thanks so much for your help. I tried it out this afternoon again and it was already much easier. I think my DD prefers to be put on in the hip position.

What a great carrier!

All the best and thanks again :hugs:
