Hi there,
Just wondering what the standard length of stay in hospital is if everything goes fairly well? I went public with DD and stayed in 5 days - and the hospital were very happy for patients to stay as long as they like ( woodside in East freo). This time I am going private( Murdoch) and wondering generally how long people stay for second bubs if there are no major probs? I want to enjoy the rest rather than having to leave in a day or two !! Thanks

I am going to Attadale. My pre-admission form said general time for VBAC was 4-5 nights, Csection 5-6 nights. I would be staying as long as poss!!! Hope this helps.

Hi There,

I go to Murdoch & i stay 4 nights ( all my baby's were born before midday) & i have had v.births & no stitches (well for DD2 & 3). The middy's there have no problem with this...hey your paying for it so i figure you may as well rest & eat all that yummy food:D

4-5 nights? wow! I had DS at 10.18am on a Friday and was home by 11am Sunday. DD was born at 1.41am on a Saturday and I was home by 11am Monday morning...both 2 night stays! Standard at the Northern Hospital in Melbourne (where both my babies were born) is 2 nights for normal deliveries and 5 nights for c-sections.

I went to Murdoch and was in a week - I had a caesar. I was told it is usually 5 days for vaginal birth, 7 days for a caesar. But that is average it is really up to you and your OB - I am sure you can stay as long as you feel is necessary. It is a private hospital and you are not forced out. I had a good experience there by the way - you will enjoy your stay. Good Luck.

Hi there ... I stayed 4 nights with DD, and only 3 nights with DS. I was keen to get home, purely because the logistics of the first child - what to do with them while you are hospitalised.

I got a lot of questions wanting to leave a bit earlier than the norm!!! As my OB said when I asked him about length of time - they only get concerned when you dont want to go home!! LOL!

Good luck with your pg.

I too was at Murdoch and left early, as long as everything is ok you can pretty much leave when you feel up to it. I was planning on staying the FULL time so i could have a nice rest, but found i was quite bored...lol...so left early as i was feeling pretty good.
