My daughter was 2 in June and has always been a big bottle drinker. She would have 4 (250ml) bottles a day and eat good aswell. Well now she is getting over a bout of tonsilitis she is only having a bottle in the morning (first thing). I am using this as a good time to cut the two day time ones out (10.30am and 3pm) as since she was sick she went off them anyway.

Well today she has only had one bottle all day (breakfast) and seems happy enough (asked for a bottle a couple of times but no tears). Being 2 years old its not as if she needs them any more, they are more a comfort than a necessity.

My question is...............is this enough milk for the day?? She won't drink any out of a cup at all. I suppose i am just worrying a bit because she has gone from having 4 to having 1 in a matter of a week. she is eating well now her throat isn't hurting her as much.

Should i be worrying soo much about the bottles. I am pregnant again and due in November so i am hoping this will make things easier with a new bub around with her not wanting them all day long and when we go out we don't have to worry about packing bottles for the day. Sorry this is soo long :ecomcity: :ecomcity: :ecomcity:

Thanks for listening.

Janet.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bottles, as long as she is having other dairy products each day...3 serves a day I think it is? Does she drink water thru the day from a cup?

My 16mth old was on 2 bottles a day until last week. My ECN told me that I should try and stop them before my bubs arrives so I swaped the bottle for a straw cup and she didn't want it. She takes water from the straw cup as well as smoothies but not plain milk. So it's lead me to believe that she likes the bottle for the bottle/teat not the milk itself. I've now replaced her morning bottle with a yoghurt and she still has her night time one after dinner.

So in total she has three serves of dairy a day which is suitable for a toddler. She has milk on her cereal and a yoghurt in the morning, cheese with her lunch and her milk at night.

If your daughter isn't crying for it then I'd say she doesn't really want it and as long as she gets three serves a day she should be fine!
