:)
Hiya everyone!

After what felt like the pregnancy that would never end  we were finally joined by our DS last thursday 11.08.05. ;) He was induced but delivered normally and came into the world at 1002am. weight 3.770kg (8.5 pounds).

My due date was wednesday, but I had well and trully had enough and told the OB and tues that I wanted an induction if he was late. Induction booked for thursday, and wouldn't you know it I started getting very strong BH contractions on wed night, didn't get much sleep and went into hospital on thurs as planned.

Midwife said I was 2cm dilated, but still not in real labour. She said I could probably go by myself sometime that day but I wanted him out! so they put the gel in and bang straight away labour started for real. I had an epidural put in and that slowed down the contractions so they put up the drip of oxytocin. Well that stuff is evil, it wiped out the epidural and I was back in full labour again using gas as well as the epi wasn't strong enough and bubs came very quickly 1.5 hours later.

He did not feed for the first couple of days, I was expressing and feeding him by syringe, but he eventually worked out what boobs are for and has been doing really well ever since.

Today is our first day at home, I fed him when we got home and put him in his cot and he has been asleep now for nearly 4 hours! I hope this does not mean he will be up alot tonight!

Hang in there all those mums who are still waiting, one way or the other they will come out! I was using lots of raspberry leaf capsules, the clary sage ess. oill, baths and walking every day, but mine still took his time, that doesn't mean they all will!

Take care everyone and let us know how you go when these babies decide to come out!

Monica

Hi,

sorry everyone must having been having a vague mum moment. After sleeping for 4.5 hours straight DS was up till midnight crying. what a weird 1st day home!

Our beautiful DS is called James Nathan. He is quite long 50.5cm and has blonde hair which none of us have not even the grandparents!

Nicky47 Clary sage is an aromatherapy essential oil , the ones you use in massage oil and oil burners. They all have properties similar to herbal medicines and are used in complimentary health care. Raspberry leaf is exactly what it sounds like, the leaves from the raspberry plant dried and made into a tea or ground and put into a capsule. The herb works very well in prepering the uterus muscle for labour making the contractions more efficient and thereby decreasing labour time. It also conditions the placenta so that it comes away cleanly and helps the uterus return to normal size quickly after birth. Both are avaliable from naturopaths and health food stores and some chemists.

Thanks everyone for your warm wishes, it is really lovely to hear from yoiu all, good luck to those still to come and well done as well to those mums already joined by thier bubs.

Keep in touch
Monica
