hi premmie mummies!!!

so i posted in the general preg section and didnt get a lot of response so im here to pick ur brains!!!

basically it looks like i have incompetant cervix so we are staring down the barrel of having a premmie....

my OB is doing everything he can to prevent delivery before 30 weeks, thats his aim, but has warned us Grub could make an appearance from 24 weeks....
we have spoke to him and he ahs mentioned other patients he has got to 34-36 weeks so there is hope he might not be a 24 weeker but we need to be prepared just incase.....

basically im wondering if all premmies end u having issues with say sight hearing things like that, and how did u cope and prepare for ur premmie (if u got the cance!)

i realise it may be a touchy topic for some so any advice/stories/pointers is most welcome!!

thanks in advance!!:hugs:

I dunno about preparing beforehand as such, but if you do have a premmie, be prepared for a hugely emotional rollercoaster ride after the birth. It often seems like for every two steps of progress baby makes, theres one step (or more) of setback. Knowing and accepting that the journey will be like this makes it a whole lot easier to deal with though.

Also, no, not all premmies have hearing or sight problems by any means.

Think positive and all the best :)

Hey babe my bub was 8.5wks early and they did an initial hearing test which came up inconclusive so I had to go back at a later date and it was fine!!
She was 1.35 kg at birth and fingers crossed has not had a set back she is bright alert and just plain old wonderful!! :)
I agree with the pp that it's a very draining emotional rollercoaster ride but I think if you stay positive in some way it wears off on the bub I feel like it did with mine!! :)
they say that if bub is over 1kg there's 'less' of a chance of major problems! But this isn't to say if it was less their would be a problem iykwim!!
Just stay postive and take it as easy as possible and do everything your told lol and make sure you can bake that bubba as long as humanly possible!!

Hey SpecialK, has your Dr not put a stitch in? I thought that enable the pregnancy to continue much longer. Happened with a friend twice - so sorry I don't know the details.

Premmies are an emotional rollercoaster as said - so take as much care as possible to get as far in your pregnancy as possible. I had two weeks total bedrest in hospital and had to be delievered at 34 weeks (PE)
