View Full Version : 12 week scan and looking good.
Hey there guys.
We had our 12 week scan yesterday morning (tues 12th) and our scanner person told us everything looked absolutely normal. We also went for a BT shortly afterwards. It seems part of the 12 week scans and BT is to help in the detecton of Spina Bifida and Downs Syndrome. Seeing we're older parents to be, our GP considered these tests important. Somehow I think the outcome of the tests wouldn't have influenced our decision in continuing our pregnancy.
I took my compact digital camera along and took some amazing mpeg footage of our little one moving his/her hands and legs around. I was quite stunned to see so much movement at this early stage.
The morning sickness is still hitting rather hard but it's now easing off in the afternoon more often than not.
So where are the rest of you guys with your pregnancies now?
Cheers and kindest regards to all.
Paul

hey im not a dad or even a guy.. buy just wanted to wish u luck with the pregnancy..
it all sounds like it's going well - albiet the morning sickness....
enjoy the ride :D
Hi Paul,
I remember our very 1st scan and how juniour was swimming around like anything! I asked my partner did she feel the movement and she said no! I couldn't believe how she couldn't!!
Tests for defects in my babies I found awful. We are older parents too and the chances of problems go through the roof. As all the GP's and midwives and Paediatricians so helpfully tell you ALL the time...
My eldest is 9 now and I have a 2 year old.
I have found parenting good fun and am very proud of my boy's. It's a joy to watch them grow and develop. There is no question that it can be hard work and fustrating at times but the rewards are great.
All the best.
Awesome, Paul - the way we looked at it, the sickness was a means to an end. It's great to hear all is well. Just make sure bub's not born on a footy day, or you'll have to make a hard decision......yeah yeah, I'm kidding, don't worry....
Hey guys
Thanks for all your best wishes and your experiences too. I was getting quite worked up reading the info booklet they give you prior to your 12 week & BT. Now I know it's not 100% guaranteed, but so far things are looking great.
This morning we went out and picked up a pram and a wool liner. Man, they don't give those prams away for nothing do they? We have a friend that works out a large baby shop and she was able to give us 20% discount, but our bill still came to $680 for those two items. Next we need to start scoping out a car capsule thingy. It's a good thing I print my own money out the back.
We also have our first ante natal visit on Friday 22nd in the afternoon. Does anyone know what these are all about?
Rockies - Delighted to hear how you guys are older parents too, so you understand my fears at the moment.
Mattus - What do you mean..."only kidding" I already have my Crows Silver pass. I sure hope my little seahorse doesn't arrive during home match day. ;)
CaraT - Ladies comments are always welcome here and thanks so much for you best wishes. I'll take all we can get.
Cheers to all

Hi Paul,
I'd suggest hiring a capsule for the first 6 months odd or when your mini-me gets big enough for a car seat. Otherwise you will be looking to spend another wack of dough on a car seat before long.
You don't even need to hire it before your bub is born. The nurses will boot you out for a few hours at some stage which will give you opportunity to get a capsule. Check with the hospital you going to be giving birth at as lots of them hire and install capsules.
Car seats are, what, a couple hundred? We got a convertible one from Target on special. Great because we've used it from day one, and there's plenty of use left in it. There's probably some great sales on at the moment, just pick your shops, Paul.
And My wedding day was the day before Freo V Essendon 2003, the wife told me to go to the game (am a Freo member). I didn't (sat in the spa at the hotel and watched...!), and bub was born in the mid-season break - such a thoughtful kid! I'm happy I got my me time, but love my Saturday 'dad and daughter' days. Will have to see what happens come season proper - might try taking her to a game in due course....
