Hello,
My name is Kate Patterson and I am a journalist for The Sunday Mail in Brisbane. I am writing a story about a new study which has found:
"19 per cent of children under one have a TV in their bedroom, 29 per cent of two to three-year-olds, and nearly half (43%) of those aged four to six."
Would any parents be willing to talk to me for inclusion in my story about either side of the argument? It would involve either a few questions by email or telephone and a photograph of you and your bub/toddler.
Regards,
Kate

Sure Kate no problems. My 10 month old doesn't have a TV in his room. I'm quite anti-TV when it comes to young kiddies. I watch enough to make up for the both of us as it is.:D
yep no problem.

I'm anti-TV in kids bedrooms, and I'm willing to talk about my reasons.

Thanks to those who are replying! I'm sending you emails. I hope that is the correct thing to do, and that you are happy to reply that way. Would love to hear from a parent who does have a TV in their child's bedroom.
I have sent you a private message.:)

I am the full time working mum of a 6 year old and would be happy to be contacted-good luck with your story:)
Whoa.... those statistics are amazing!
I wouldn't allow a TV in my kid's bedroom (even when they become teenagers) and nor would I allow a personal computer in their room either. I prefer the open study idea where all our PC's will be in the one room and there is no door.
You can PM me if you want to contact me for your story except I'm in Melbourne!
My children will never have a TV in their room, however as they are still young have not made any decisions regarding computers..... I would be happy to discuss my views on TV goodness knows I have had many a disgreement with my own mother regarding how much TV my children are allowed to watch (I have a limit of 1 Hr and that's not every day). I would be happy to be contacted.
I'm happy to be contacted too - I have an 8 month old .. dont know if I am much help ... but until he gets a job.... I'm afraid there will be no tv in his room .. lol

Happy to chat too.
nearly 15month DD doesn't watch any television and only watches one 30min dvd/week since she was 13months old, before that nothing. Plan that she will have very little TV time and a TV in her own room will not be an option.

my 15 month old son sleeps in the lounge its the warmest room in the house. so yes there is a tv in the lounge. ds does watch it but is more into his toys unless the simpsons are on or sunrise lol
I'm happy to be contacted. :D I have three children 8,6, & 2.
I'm happy to be contacted - I'm of the belief of no tv in any kids rooms ever. My kids aren't an issue - at 2 and 3weeks, they don't know any different, but my step kids (11 and 13) both have televisions in their rooms at their mum's house and as a result watch some very inappropriate programs (and they're just the programs they tell me about).
