Can I watch you give birth?? Pleeeease!?

:o Yep, strange question I know.. I just seemed to miss out on my own. After 40 hours of labour, no food, and blood pressure problems I kind of went into a coma during the delivery.. so unfortunately I wasn't exactly awake for mine! :crying:

I know its a bit forward of me.. and really wacky.. but if there are any mums out there who dont have the birth support they need or they'd like another person in case hubby passes out.. let me know!

I'd love to study to be a midwife in the next couple of years and I'd think it'd be beneficial to have been present at a delivery  and more honestly.. I just wanna be able to see a baby born and cant wait til I've finshed UNI grrrr! Hehehe!

:ecomcity: But really.. it isn't really a silly idea is it? If you are, or know of anyone who is expecting and would like to have another friend on board who's been through this also, and to hold their hand.. and have them take crazy close-ups of Bubhubber jnr crowning *blushes* then let me know!

When you study to be a midwife, you will get to witness lots of births before you have finished uni, midwifery is a very hands on, practical course, and you will have seen quite a few vb and c sect by the time you are finished. :) You will get to help ladies in thier pre natal visits and stuff as well, best of luck! (both with the midwifery and finding someone who will let someone they just met off the net into the room with them whilst they give birth  ) ;)

Thanks hun.. yeh I know its a long shot.. but hey "why not!" There's got to be SOMEONE out there.. and I wouldn't expect to be "best friends" overnight (give it a week  ) but hopefully some sort of friendship would be established before they decided whether they wanted company on the day! I know I could've done with a "labour" buddy! hehehehe

Thanks for the midwifery info also.. are you a midwife yourself? via RN?

Thanks for your reply Mandy, and for making me feel better about asking such a bizaare question that will certainly attract some negative attention from some *sob sob* ie ppl thinking that I'm a FREAK! :o

Glad to know SOMEONE might've taken me up on my offer...

Nope, my mum is though. She was an RN first and then did a masters of science majoring in midwifery that took 1 year, but you can do it over 2 (a year of prac and a yr of theory) if you feel you need to because of work or children commitments. You can now also do a degree in midwifery in which you dont have to be an RN first, it is a normal 3-4 yr degree, not sure how many places have it available yet though. :)

Been chatting with cenasangel aka Lisa so :fingerscrossed: things go smoothly for her and with enough notice to make sure I can come along too (haha - history of speedy quick deliveries may give incredible short notice  ) poor girl!

I've asked my sister to come along for the birth of my next one, she's in a very happy same sex relationship so she won't be going through child birth herself and neither will her partner. She is so excited and asks all the time, are you pregnant yet???

I think it's such an amazing thing to share with someone.

Although an old family friend watched my mum give birth to my little sister and she just ended up losing contact, sad really cause I would have thought an amazing bond would have been formed....
